I just wanted to share, from a spiritual/truth POV as to the utter falsehoood and trickery behing the WTBTS's "voluntary donation," program.
During my Lord's day in the flesh, he chastised the scribes and Pharisees because they had created a loophole to get around the Law and get more $$ for the temple priests (which trickled down to themselves). That loophole was called "corban" and was a man-made "law" that said one could give money... that SHOULD have gone to the care of, say, elderly parents... to the temple instead. The premise was that "If you give to us priests/the temple, JaHVeH will take care of YOU." My Lord had a problem with this, though, as it violated the Law as to "honoring (one's) mother and father." That was a DIRECT command.
And JAH had handled the issue of taking care of the temple and priests: the people of Israel were to give a "tenth" of their grain, flock, what have you... for the upkeep of the temple and care of the priests. Not a 12th... or a 20th, etc. Could one give MORE? Not if one had parents, wife, children... neighbors... strangers... enemies... etc., to care for. Unless one had cared for these FIRST.
But not sure how one could cover ALL that were in need and still have more to give to the temple and its priests. JAH knew that a tenth from ALL of Israel would suffice.
The WTBTS sets itself up as "different" from other religions, including those who call for the tenth... or "tithing" from their members. They say what they ask for is for ones to given what they can... and voluntarily. But give... to WHAT? To WHOM?
Ancient Israel gave to the care of the literal temple in Jerusalem. That was what the OLD Law called for. What, though, did the NEW Law call for? Were the people to no longer give to the temple and its priests?
Actually, they were absolutely to give to the temple and its priests. But NOT the temple at Jerusalem. The MOST HOLY One of Israel, JAH of Armies, REMOVED His spirit from that edifice and put it in a NEW temple: that made up of His PEOPLE... which people are PRIESTS in His temple.
And so, we can read where, directly after our dear Lord poured out the Father's spirit on the first ones of his Body... they came together and gave. To the temple that was the PEOPLE they were! Those who had gave what they could... to help those who DIDN'T have. And it wasn't limited to a tenth, nor was a tenth called for - it was whatever each one could/would give! BUT... it was NOT to and for the upkeep of a building, its caretakers... or some religious organization!
And that's where the WTBTS' "voluntary donation" system fails in Christ. Utterly. Because it is calling for its members to "donate" MUCH needed money... to care for their families, their neighbors, strangers, even their enemies (think, Good Samaritan)... so as to BUILD BUILDINGS... and care for those who live/work in them! JUST like under the OLD Law!
Once again, they have craftily breathed life back into the Old Law, the "other wild beast," which "puts under compulsion the great AND the small." They use accounts such as the "widown's mite" to guild their members into giving, even when such ones have little or nothing TO give... while letting the hungry, needy, sick, homeless, etc., AMONG THEM, let alone among their "worldly" family, neighbors, enemies, etc., go UNCARED for!
THAT... is NOT the way... of CHRIST!
And so, once again, they show themselves to be imposters. FALSE "christs." NOT led by JAH's spirit through Christ, but "having a FORM of godly devotion but proving FALSE to its power!" Rather than using the money they COERCE to care for their own... OR for their neighbor, etc.... they use to amass VAST amounts of valuable real estate holdings under the guise that folks need somewhere to meet. Christ, however, taught IN THE OPEN AIR on a mountain top! Okay, a hilltop, whatever... but he didn't send his disciples out to ask... for ANYTHING... from ANYONE.
Nor did our first century brothers. The people brought... because they were MOVED... by LOVE... and so, holy spirit... to give!
If you are in doubt as to who those charlatans are, those imposters... this should tell you. Because there is NOTHING in it that comports with Christ. Not one thing! They are false christs. Unclean harlots and adulteresses. And anyone who touches them is unclean by means of such "touching."
Hence, WE, those who belong to JAH... through Christ... and so are called HIS people... must GET OUT OF HER! As He SAYS:
"Get OUT of her... MY people!"
Standing just outside her "gates", however, may not be enough. When one left Jerusalem, one had to get miles away before actually being OUT of Jerusalem. For our first century brothers, that meant fleeing... to the mountains OUTSIDE of that city. There is only one "mountain," though, for the Body of Christ to flee to so as to get away safe and that is "Mount Zion" in the NEW "Jerusalem." Which is NOT a city on this earth... but a PEOPLE, some of whom are still alive on this earth.
May those with ears to hear, hear... and get the SENSE of what I have had the privilege of sharing with you, here. And may you also hear, when the Spirit and the Bridge say to YOU:
"Come! Take 'Life's' (Christ's) 'water'... the holy spirit of God, which is His breath, blood, and seed... and is GIVEN by the One, the Life... from within HIS innermost parts... and poured out upon ANYONE wishing and thirsting... FREE!"
