Tammy, John hunts too, duck and deer hunting. I am not against it but I personally would never do that myself unless we were starving, I don't like duck or deer meat at all and deer have big brown eyes and pretty faces, it just seems to mean to me.

Yeah, I don't think I could actually pull the trigger either. However, I do eat the meat and i do enjoy the money it saves us through the winter, so I cannot say anything against the act of hunting. I appreciate Rob doing it. Meat from the grocery store comes from an animal too.

I also think that men feel really good about providing for their family in such a hands on and direct way.

One time when I was young, and the fish we had caught just kept on trying to live... I was so sad and upset, that my stepfather turned the car around and drove back to the stream, and tossed the fish back in the water for me. (poor thing probably died anyway, since he and my brother had stabbed it with a stick, thinking that if it died I would at least feel better... but it just kept trying to live and breathe!)

But I DO like to EAT fish, so I don't have anything AT ALL against anyone who DOES fish. I did fish as a child too, and loved it, but I don't think I ever got to see the fish afterward... my grandfather just tossed them in the bucket, and they were just dead food to me. Except for that one time.

At the same time, and like you said... if we were hungry/starving, I would hunt too.

Peace,
tammy

I totally think hunting for food is a good thing. I don't think hunting for sport is but for food yes. I just could not do it myself.
Fishing to me is very good, I don't feel so bad about doing that and have done it many times. I caught a big tuna in Mexico on a all day fishing trip. Wow that was a huge job. I did feel sorry for the tuna after as he wiggled and squirmed for a long time after in front of me. I gave the tuna to a nice Mexican young man so his family could have a big dinner. He had driven us to the boat and picked us up after to take us back to the hotel. He was so delighted that we were giving him the tuna. I was the only one among 6 o us that caught anything. He drove to his village first to drop off the tuna, they lived in shacks and washed their clothes in the stream. They sure lived off the land and appreciated things.

Dear Loz (peace, luv!), you "boot" sale also sounds like what we call a "flea market" in Northern Cali and "swap meet" in Southern Cali. There, folks can bring all of their cast offs, set up tables/stalls and sell stuff (out of their car/truck/van, etc.). Dear hubby and I LOVE flea markets/swap meets and we have some LOVELY ones, here! There is an antique one on Alameda island the first Sunday of every month. Costs $15/person to get in... but some very lovely stuff. Most cost $.50-$3.00, so we don't do the $15 one often.

Re hunting/fishing, lovely stories, dear Zoe and Tams (peace to you both!). I don't think I could hunt if I didn't HAVE to... but I think that if I grew up around it (or on a farm)... or NEEDED to in order to survive, I could certainly learn and do it. I like fish, too, and used to know how to fish (my father was an AVID camper/fisherman!). I just don't really care for the "trophy/mink/sable/chinchilla coat" kinda thing - I always thought the head/fur looked better on the animal than it did on a wall/human's back. I mean, do I REALLY look better in a mink's fur than the MINK itself did?? LOLOLOL! Sorta weird to me. Unless, of course, the fur was for warmth (which means it wasn't for looks)... or the animal for food (i.e., rabbit, leather, suede, etc.). I mean, if it came down to me freezing to death... or a bear/buffalo losing it's fur... ummmmm...

Yeah, I am prolly more human that even I like - LOLOLOL!

I know some here have considered going vegan/vegetarian and I admire that kind of resolution (my daughter has been a semi-vegetarian for close to 15 years now - she only eats very small amounts of seafood, but no meat and no dairy/eggs). I say, "Good for you, luv. Now pass me that lamb chop!" LOLOLOL!

I do like the way some halal meat is killed (ceremonial prayer similar to how many tribal peoples do, including Native Americans, tribal Africans, aborigines, and some of the South American natives)... and have often thought of converting to that for meat (we have a lot of halel meat shops in the area). Maybe, maybe not, I dunno.

Anyway... just my $0.02!

Peace to you dear ladies!

Not a bad morning at the Car Boot, very hot and sunny, lots of people. I laughed at hubby who was bored by 9am and tired of people bartering over the lowest prices. "Tell you what, you must be really strapped, just take it, have it for nothing, enjoy!" he says, and then they laugh and pay the price.

Tired now after rising at dawn, gonna settle down and watch the men's singles final at Wimbledon, with a cold beer.

Loz x

Morning everyone. Glad you got to your boot sale Loz, I could see men getting impatient over haggling and the price is peanuts already lol. I love what he said, brilliant and it worked well.

We are off to the new place again to take more stuff there and for John to install a legal dryer vent. Then we are coming home and having eribs on the BBQ and baked potatos

Mornin' and peace to you all! Glad boot sale went well, dear Loz (peace!). Hubby's comebacks were brilliant! I might try that if I'm in a similar situation.

You lovebirds try not to overexert yourselves today, dear Zoe (peace to you, as well!) 'cause you'll need your strength to tackle those ribs and potatoes, luv! I'm drooling already!

Peace... and hope everyone has a LOVELY day!

Great that you enjoy the tennis matches Loz. I have never got into that as far as watching at least. I hope your favorite wins, is he a Brit?

We are at the new house, it is pouring rain here and has been for 2 hours. It better stop by supper as we won't be able to BBQ them.
John is installing the dryer vent and the new dryer. The last people here had never cleaned the vent and it was a plastic one too so it's going to be all safe and properly done now. They blew the dryer up and no wonder.

I emptied 6 bins of clothes and hung them up, emptied one big bin full of cleaning stuff, laundry stuff and bathroom stuff. I also brought 3 bags of fridge and freezer stuff into the new fridge. That did me in for the day. This time it was Johns clothes and our outer wear like coats and boots etc.

We are getting there slowly and seeing a dent at the other house. We definitely have too much stuff.

Ok we are out of here, it's going to be a inside day, the humidity is just awful today.

We are going back home now and relax. I will get the ribs ready later this aft ;)

Good Morning, Happy Monday. We have been moving for a week today, John is losing it, I and the dog are trying to stay away from him, he doesn't handle stress well. I will be so glad when this is over.

Its a warm humid and sunny day so far, great for packing boxes lol.

I hope you all had a great weekend, I know it was a holiday weekend in the USA.

Only a couple of days and you'll be in Zoe. Then you can take your time and just enjoy your lovely new surroundings. Nearly there!

Boiling here at the moment, a real taste of summer, so I'm not complaining.
