Recently a number of threads are being bumped and reposted. This is very interesting and welcome, but runs the risk of confusing and misleading any but the most alert and aware. May I, please, make a couple of requests, for the sake of accuracy and clarity?

1. Please could the site admin, or whoever has the ability to bump a whole thread, preface each newly-bumped thread with a prominent, sticky, ( unerasable) statement saying why this particular thread is being bumped? I can't see why anyone should object to that, nor how anyone could justify an objection.

2. Please could each newly-bumped thread and post include the actual real date the thread and post were first made? They are all dated April 12th because that is when this new forum began, but they might have been made at any time in the preceding six or eight months or so. The actual true date of posting would put each post into historical context in the life of the forum.

Again, I feel that these requests and proposals could only be welcomed by everybody, but if for any reason they were to be thought controversial, though why I can't imagine, perhaps a poll could be created, with maybe prominent placement, and left prominently up so that even occasional visitors can't miss it?

Otherwise the context and reason for arbitrarily bumped threads are not clear.

Thank you in advance for considering this request.

Well, I only bumped three, and I bumped them for a poster who was looking for those descriptions on hearing from our Lord, again. I am sure other people found them interesting; I know that I did when I copied old threads over; that was the most fun part of doing it, lol. I've bumped threads in that manner and for that reason before, on the other forum, just to bring them up for someone looking for that information, and with no other explanation. Also, anyone has the ability to bump a whole thread. I bumped as a friend, not as an admin.

In fact, I did say my reason on the one, "bumping for 'so and so'"; I just didn't want to put them in the spotlight for each thread I bumped.

I know it can be a bit confusing if views have changed or progressed since then, but many are the same, and I just don't know the original dates that they were made. However, anything that has its posts made by "xjwsforchrist", and then reveals the name of the poster at the top of each post, is from the other forum, and the date could be from anytime that we were over there.

I made an announcement on this forum in general announcements or technical advice, etc, letting people know this when we opened up so everyone would know what was up. But what you did, announcing that one thread was from six months ago or so, should be fine, and anyone can do that if concerned.

Peace,
tammy

There are some dates on the bumped threads but not many I do agree. It helps to include the dates but I know what a huge job it was as it is to transfer data with NO help, extremely time consuming. I transfered a 25 page thread over for Jackie at the werewolf forum and it took me 3 days. whew.

The main thing is you got the all the posts transferred and that was a HUGE JOB, I know it because I did the same thing myself on my own forum and I even transferred the pictures over lol.

Thanks for all the work you do Tammy.

Thanks, Zoe. It wasn't until I was well into it that it occurred to me that the dates weren't going over as well, and that people might want them. Then I noticed that sometimes the dates did transfer over, so I hoped that would be enough. If I had had more time, I could have done it better... but we had a vert limited time period to move a lot of threads over, and well, you know how time consuming it is ; )

Peace,
tammy

Because we can all bump a thread here whenever we want refer to it, I think it'd be impossible to try and mark them, it'd never end lol. I think you did a great job in saving so much for us Tammy.

I am not aware of any arbitrarily bumped threads, dear Char (mornin' and peace to you!). Indeed, folks ususally say why they're bumping a thread (although sometimes not on another forum - took me years to understand what "bttt" meant - LOLOL!). If it is a thread "authored" by "xjwsforChrist" then it was most likely transferred from the previous site and in great haste (due to the short time frame and only one doing so so that we didn't have duplicates). So, one can assume the date to be "pre-April 2013." Now, when specifically pre-April may just to have to remain unknown, but if anyone DOES know, they should feel free to state that... if they feel it really matters. I personally can't see why it would, but that's me.

Anyway, I offer this as an explanation so that you don't think anyone IS opposed to your requests... because it would be most difficult to do for those pre-April... and quite unnecessary (IMHO) for those since (as the dates would show anyway). And asking folks to place a "prominent sticky" as to WHY the thread is being bumped (as anyone can bump what's on THIS site) seems onerous. I mean, they can simply bump because... well, they simply want the thread to stay current, yes?

I hope this helps and, again, peace to you!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shellama

Lovely! :D My request was made purely in the spirit of openness and accuracy, Tammy, and nothing to do with views having changed. Actually, that's a very interesting comment. I wonder if anyone actually has changed their views. I hadn't noticed that. I certainly haven't. Have I missed something? Thought I kept fairly well up to date but there may be an important post somewhere that I've missed... ??/??

"Arbitrarily bumped threads", Shelby? I'm not aware of any, either. Again, have I missed something?

As Loz said, Tammy, thank you so much for all your hard work! :D

Yes... your own words from the OP:

Anyway, besides being time-consuming, moving each post over was fun in that it brought older members to mind again, and the various topics/views we had all discussed. So you are all welcome, of course, and thank YOU all, for being understanding.

Peace,
tammy

Then why allude to them, dear Char (again, peace to you!). But then, this is what I and others mean: you make comments/statements and then, for some reason, seem to utterly forget/overlook that you did.

No one is misquoting you, dear Char, or twisting your words, etc. We are and have always been only going by what YOU post here. Now... and way back "when".

Again, I exhort you: READ what YOU post. Because somehow you seem to have a tendency to "forget." And pretty quickly, sometimes.

Peace to you!

The announcement that I made regarding the posts from the old forum is here, just so that you know. I made it the day we opened this forum.

Peace,

Yes, Tammy, I know, and marked it well. It just seemed that the actual dates could be useful, and obviously I am not alone in that thought.

Thank you again for being so helpful.

Uh-huh, yeah, maybe a bit more "kicks" than the "grins," though, eh, dear LQ (peace to you, luv! and glad to see your're paying attention - LOLOLOL!)? Well, no worries - so long as no one has on steel-toed shoes... kicks CAN be helpful. You know... to "unstick" some "stuck" things! Just ask my washing machine or any number of the doors in my house during the damp months! LOLOLOL!

Peace... and I got my eye on you! LOLOLOLOL!
