Howdy folks,

My name is Al, from So Cal, San Diego area. I'm a follower of Christ and as such look forward to participating here. I have some familiarity with the JW organization, but I've never been a part. I grew up with an Evangelical Free Church background, attending Bible Clubs and Summer Bible Camps since my earliest memories of childhood, along with church youth programs until going off to attend Bible College for one year. I've been active in a non-denominational community church (affiliated with the E-Free-Church org) but I am not a member there, nor do I agree with all of their positions on various things-- but I do love the people and mostly keep my opinions to myself. I think much has been lost to doctrine and dogma within these organizations, many of which have become little more than corporate interests in the practical sense, despite their professed beliefs.

Glad to be here- I'm looking forward to digging into the members sections in particular, to share matters of personal encounters with the Christ.

Peace to you Mr E, and welcome to the forum.

Thank you for introducing yourself to us. Glad to meet you here (as well as on the other forum.)

I also never joined the jw religion, but I did a two year bible study with them before ending those studies. It is perhaps the closest I came to joining a religion, but my Lord kept me out of her. (out of all religion even, and to instead simply listen to and remain in Him.)

"Lord to whom shall we go. You have the words of eternal life."

We might be a little quieter around here of late, with some of us posting in other places (which is how you met me), but feel free to look around and post/read as you feel comfortable. I think you've already read the purpose of this forum before deciding to join (thank you!!), but in case you haven't had a chance, here is that short introduction:

Along with our few rules (as most forums need at least a few at some point or another):

Welcome again, and peace to you!

Thank you Tam.

Quiet is nice.

Nothing wrong with quiet. When we are quiet, we listen more and hear better.

Greetings and peace to you as well Mr E,

Well, as for me, I and my husband spend our entire childhood, youth, and then married into the JW religion. We did not leave it until we were in our late thirties with three small sons along with us leaving just about all family inside. And you might be familiar with the result of leaving this organization once baptized into it and then standing up with the real Truth ( which is a WHO not a Where...CHRIST!) YES! We were disfellowshipped!

But "hearing" and obeying what our Lord shared with us as to HE being "The Way, The TRUTH, and The Life" and to listen to him as our Shepherd, High Priest and only Leader we needed, led by Holy Spirit....How can you refuse this walk/journey in love and truth. He said, "MY sheep hear MY voice!" But it is always a choice to listen and obey!

As Tec shared, there is a lot to glean from here and a lot of participation over the years. Although more quiet these days, it is always good to hear from any and all. Again, welcome again and glad to meet you.

Peace to you!

Thank you and nice to meet you as well jm. You are living proof that there is no one beyond his reach. As am I.

Peace to you also, through Christ.
