Imagine being raised to BE a Taliban, though, dear Sher'f (peace to you, dear friend!) - prolly never saw a bumper car or merry-go-round, let alone rode in/on one! It's 20 years later (than 2001). Most of them (shown on the tube) look young. Maybe this generation of Taliban'rs are more... ummmm... progressive? Modern-ish? Here's the thing that the arrogant West (code word for "USA") overlooked, though: 1. The British tried to overtake Afghanistan in First Anglo-Afghan War of 1839 to 1842 (due to fear that Russia could get to their Indian colonies by going through Afghanistan), and got their butts kicked. 2. While the British succeeded in the Second Anglo-Afghan War (1878 to 1880), they lost again in the Third Anglo-Afghan War (May 6 - Aug 8, 1919), ultimately granting Afghanistan its independence. There were three other conflicts but in the end Afghanistan remained independent. 3. The Russians tried to overtake Afghanistan in the Soviet-Afghan War of Dec 1979 – Feb 1989 (fearing that, after assassination of the Russian-backed Afghan communist leader by the 2nd in command, that 2nd in command was going to switch the country from being pro-Russia to pro-USA) and were ousted by the Afghan Mujahideen. But, of course, the US was going to go in and do what those two "superpowers" couldn't: control the tribal peoples of Afghanistan. And in record time. Right? Yet, here we are, 20+ years of war in Afghanistan later... and guess who's crawling back home? And guess who's still "in charge" in Afghanistan? Earthling man. SMH. Peace to you and thank you, again, for sharing, dear Sher'f! YSFS of Christ, Shelb |

I read some where, the Afghan Kids play a game. They pull on each others ears until one of them gives up. Bumper Cars and Merry-Go-Rounds must be a huge step up!
