CRIMINY SAID

So let me get this straight. I can make a post about praising God or ask for clarification on how best to walk with Christ, or discuss a scriptural point that has me stumped...

... without anyone regurgitating uninvited acrimony of spaghetti monsters, fictional characters and book of fairy tales by ancient sheepherders?

WHOA!!! Great to be here. Thank you guys and gals for all the hard work in bringing this forum to life.

Sometimes I consider just embracing the spaghetti god. Here is what he teaches: love, forgiveness, justice, mercy.

And that's the hope, yes, but you always get one or two "stirrers" who need to be... mmmmmm... "redirected". Our moderators have assured us that that is the goal and so will be done, as well - LOL!

So, come on in... grab a seat... and chill-ax! Have a scone and cup of tea! Cream? Sugar? SA points "over there" - LOL!

Peace to you!

This will be a refeshing change. I do beleive that all should be able to believe as they do, but it is just rude to be so sarcastic to others about thier beliefs.

If you disagree with having faith in Jesus then use facts to dispute. Just bringing out the "flying spaghetti monster" is no different then the WT bringing out the "apostate" label. It is a logical fallicy.

Those that are truely athiest and have thought out that position are not likely to change, the same is true for Christians that have thought out thier position. Calling each other names does not help anything.

I for one look forward to discussing Bible topics that I have questions on without running the risk of a flame war. I have no interest at all in that.

I, too, remember being frightened to press the "Submit" button on that other site.

My favorite was one who wrote "I don't need a god in order for me to be 'loving, peaceful, patient, kind, gentle, or to have self control' you $#%^$% @$%^ #$%!!!!"

And he failed to see the irony!

FSM actually got me through many a rough patch. I was a Pastafarian for a while when I just didn't know what to believe anymore. It worked for me. FSM is whatever you make of it.

No disrespect meant but Long Live FSM!

@William - Don't get me wrong. I too toyed with the idea of the FSM. In other words once I lost "faith" in the organization I came very very close to losing faith in God altogether. Perhaps I did for awhile. Anyway I no longer feel that way. I realize now that the "truth" is not about men and never will be. That does not mean that there is no God however.

"Pastafarian" - Ha Ha that is funny : )

QUENDI SAID

I think that some on the "other forum" failed to understand that once they had made good their escape from Jehovah's Witnesses, they had to guard against becoming the very thing they hated. Their desire to purge themselves of all things Watchtower and Witness related led them to become just as strident, just as outrageous, just as unbalanced as the zealots they had fled.

It took time for me to adopt a "live and let live" attitude and to get rid of what I called "Witness-itis", the compulsion to convince others of my particular point of view. Years of going door-to-door had instilled that in me and letting go has been a real challenge. I'm not through with this, but I am making progress and will continue to work hard at it.

I had the spagetti monster thrown in my face when I came to the defence of my daughter on JWN. Not a nice experience but I recovered quickly.
