This question, "What is the Truth about God?", is the title of the first chapter in the wts book, "What does the bible really teach?" http://www.jw.org/en/publications/books ... about-god/

This is the first book that the wts uses for bible studies, at least in my experience. It is the one that I studied, although the woman who did my study also got me other books as questions came up: the red revelation book, and the two insight to the scriptures books.


But in this book and in this very first chapter, the title/question asks: "What is the Truth About God?"


And not once... not one single time in this entire chapter... is this question answered with the simple truth:

CHRIST is the Truth about God.


The chapter describes qualities of God - that He is holy, that He is love, that He is a lover of justice, patient, etc. Qualities found written in various places in the bible, and there is nothing wrong with that... except that they stop short of THE/ALL Truth. Because they do not answer the question, "What is the Truth about God?", with the simple truth that Christ Himself teaches:


"I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. From now on you do know him and have seen him." John 14:6

"Don't you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'? Don't you believe that I am in the Father and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work." John 14:9-11.

"I have revealed you to those you gave me out of the world." John 17:6


See Christ, see God. Know Christ, know God.


There are other problems of course with what this chapter teaches and claims. But how can one who knows the Truth, who has learned FROM the Truth... NOT then answer this question TRUTHFULLY, as learned from Christ?



Christ has also said:

"You diligently study the scriptures because you think that by them you have eternal life. These are the scriptures that testify about me, but you refuse to come to me to have life." John 5:40-41

and


"Come to me... all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28


"Come to ME..."


Not man. Not religion. Nothing and no one else. For all those who are searching and seeking Truth and Life... Christ is the One you are searching FOR.

Because CHRIST is the Truth and the LIfe, and IN HIM, is the life and the truth that you seek. He is the Teacher and the One who makes these truths known... to me, yes, and to ALL who listen to His words and come to Him.


May you be given ears to hear also as the Spirit (who is Christ), and the Bride (those who are of the Body of Christ) say to YOU, "Come!" And let him who hears, say "Come." Let all who thirst and all who seek, "Come! Take the free gift of the water of life."

Gurrrrlll... peace to you... and this (well, something like it)... is 'ZACKLY how I came to know my Lord AS the Truth:

I was reading one of the "Questions from Readers", questions (that wasn't really a question [from a reader] as the WTBTS was "asking" it). It "asked":

"What is the truth that sets you free?"

And the response was:

"It is the truth that is set forth in God's Holy Word, the Bible."

At first, I was like... well, okay. And then... I heard my Lord say (and so began running around screaming - dear 'Mom and FinalCall... peace to you, both!... might remember):

"I... am the Truth, child. And the Word of God. And I am the One who will set you free!"

I was like... OMG. OMG!!! And then... he SHOWED me. You know the verses:

John 14:6
Revelation 19:13
John 1:1, 14
John 8:32, 36
John 17:17
Hebrews 13:12

My life has never been the same.

I am SO saddened for anyone who claims to be a "Christian," yet do not understand this simply, basic... and fundamental... truth. Because THIS is the truth that the FAITH of a Christian is BUILT on. CHRIST... the FOUNDATION and ROCK/STONE. God's Truth.

I realize that this isn't exactly the direction this topic was going, but it's along the lines. Because if folks TRULY want to know the truth about GOD... then all they have to do is LOOK at His Truth... CHRIST. As he said, see him... see God. They keep trying to go AROUND him, though, to see God.

Can't be done. Can't. Cannot. Can... not. Impossible. Utterly.

Okay, that sammich is calling me fo' realz, now, so gotta run.

Shel, who can't read that book... or any of their literature... as it all literally turns my stomach. Literally. NOTHING stresses me like their lies. Nothing. Because I just want to SCREAM... to those who believe it... "THEY'RE LIES!"... and "STOP LYING" to those who wrote/push it. It's almost like sipping vomit (sorry for any who are offended by that)... but I can SMELL its "stench"... LONG before I could ever "consume" it. So, I can't get past my "gag reflex" to get it "down" - yuck!!...

Yes, and this sounds exactly along the lines of this topic!

No Christ, no God.

YES, to everything you ALL have shared. Great topic and truly a simple answer as to what is the truth about God? It is a WHO and that is CHRIST!

John 1:18 " For no man has seen God at any time, it the only begotten god who is in the bosom position with the Father is the one that has EXPLAINED him."

So if we want to know the truth about God/Jah then....we must ask the Son. And yes, he speaks. How else could he explain the father to us?

Cnnsidering the JW's view Christ as a created being (not only subordinate BUT inferior to The Father), what do you expect?

Yeah, I'm always kinda surprised as what [still] surprises people about what that WTBTS teaches/JWs believe, dear P (peace to you!). I mean, at some point we have to move on past [still] being incredulous as to their false teachings (are any of them truly NEW?)... and focus on sharing ABOUT Christ, to those who truly WANT to KNOW.

I hear you Shel and I myself have "given up" with my family.
I will still remind them, in their own words, of WHO they must go through to get to Jehovah, so they they don't just throw Him in at the end of a prayer ( we ask this in the name of your son, Christ Jesus) sometimes so rushed and mumbled that I can't even hear it.

They are truly Jehovahites and not Christians since, for them, Christ is simply God's son.

Indeed, dear brother. Patience... and peace to you... in the way our dear Lord gives it.
