I'm inching my way toward that fire.
Ahhhh... but HERE'S the THING, dear, dear LQ (peace to you, luv, and keep in mind, I'm not as succinct as the dear Sher'f - peace to you BOTH!): you can actually WALK on [that] fire... AND... NOT BE BURNED! Folks do it ALL the time! For instance (from the "Firewalking" page of Wikipedia; all emphasis mine):
Quote:
Factors that prevent burning -
- Water has a very high specific heat capacity (4.184 J g−1 K−1), whereas embers have a very low one. Therefore the foot's temperature tends to change less than the coal's.
- Water also has a high thermal conductivity, and on top of that, the rich blood flow in the foot will carry away the heat and spread it. On the other hand, embers have a poor thermal conductivity, so the hotter body consists only of the parts of the embers which are close to the foot.
- When the embers cool down, their temperature sinks below the flash point, so they stop burning, and no new heat is generated.
And, very importantly...
Quote:
- Firewalkers do not spend very much time on the embers, and they keep moving.
Of course, there are some risks when walking on fire:
Quote:
Risks when firewalking -
- People have burned their feet when they remained in the fire for too long, enabling the thermal conductivity of the embers to catch up.
Although...
Quote:
- One is more likely to be burned when running through the embers since running pushes one's feet deeper into the embers, resulting in the top of the feet being burnt.
- Foreign objects in the embers may result in burns. Metal is especially dangerous since it has a high thermal conductivity.
- Embers which have not burned long enough can burn feet more quickly. Embers contain water, which increases their heat capacity as well as their thermal conductivity. The water must be evaporated already when the firewalk starts.
- Wet feet can cause embers to cling to them, increasing the exposure time.
Of course, this is all with reference to PHYSICALLY walking on fire. But let's US look at it from a SPIRITUAL POV, if you will indulge me:
Factors that prevent burning -
- Water has a very high specific heat capacity (4.184 J g−1 K−1), whereas embers have a very low one. Therefore the foot's temperature tends to change less than the coal's.Or, from a spiritual POV: the wormy-woody "water" of the WTBTS can really "heat up"... and you COULD get scalded... BUT... the "stone" that is Christ can keep things COOL... so that YOUR foot('s temp) doesn't fluctuate...
- Water also has a high thermal conductivity, and on top of that, the rich blood flow in the foot will carry away the heat and spread it. On the other hand, embers have a poor thermal conductivity, so the hotter body consists only of the parts of the embers which are close to the foot. The blood (of Christ)... holy spirit... will conduct the heat AWAY from you, spread it, so that it's not concentrated on YOU (i.e., someone will share it)...
- When the embers cool down, their temperature sinks below the flash point, so they stop burning, and no new heat is generated. The "temperature" of Christ (the stone) will not increase but stay constant...
Firewalkers do not spend very much time on the embers, and they keep moving.Self-explanatory, although I would add, firewalkers prolly don't look back, either, but just focus on getting through and across! Well, at least, not until they've completely crossed the ember bed and are on the other side!
Of course, let's be honest - as with the physical, there are spiritual "risks," too:
- One is more likely to be burned when running through the embers since running pushes one's feet deeper into the embers, resulting in the top of the feet being burnt.Eye-ee... or why travelling TOO fast because of trying to get through without feeling ANY heat at ALL... I mean, it IS firewalking, after all, and so, unless one has pads on one's feet, like a canine or sumthin'...
- Foreign objects in the embers may result in burns. Metal is especially dangerous since it has a high thermal conductivity.Translation: "Stuff" put in the fire by the WTBTS. You know, that "extra" stuff that they use to turn up the heat (i.e., lies/slander... that result in disfellowshipping)... all a risk of spiritual "firewalking"...
- Embers which have not burned long enough can burn feet more quickly. Translation: NEW lies... hidden under the guise of "new light"...
Embers contain water, which increases their heat capacity as well as their thermal conductivity. The water must be evaporated already when the firewalk starts.Eye-ee water = WTBTS wormwoody water, and so "water" with more volatile "sh*t" IN it. One's gotta already be PAST needing THAT kind of "water" when one STARTS firewalking...
- Wet feet can cause embers to cling to them, increasing the exposure time.Wet feet = what it always means: fear. "Wet feet". Which is way appears to be causing YOU to "cling" to the "embers" (of the WTBTS). Take care, though, as you risk being burned.
Of course, all of this is my own melarkey. But one CAN, if one wants to, "see" EVERYTHING from a spiritual POV, if it will help them SEE where they are... and where they need to BE... and maybe WHY (if not exactly HOW) to GET there...
All is how a Body (member) chooses to "see" things, luv!
Peace to you!
YSSFS of Christ,
Shellamar
