We are under a heavy snowfall warning - 10 to 25 centimeters possible, lol. I doubt it will remain on the ground, its not cold enough yet, but seriously! I feel like I just got my winter tires taken off, and now I don't even have them back on for when we get this huge snowfall... and I have to work tomorrow night.

Alberta... *SMH*

Peace!!

Morning everyone and it is Daylight savings today also. Had an extra hours sleep. It is a cold but bright sunny day. We have no Snow thankfully but had some a week ago though not much. I sure wish I could afford to go south in the winter.

We had a night out last night, I haven't been out at all since last Christmas for a outing. Sucks living in the boonies and having no extra money for fun things.

We went to a Hockey game, courtesy of John's company. There were 16 of us, 2 were children. The Company that John works for has a big Private Box suite overlooking the ice so its very comfortable. There is a waitress who serves drinks and food so we don't have to move off our butts at all. We could order any drink we wanted, I had 1 glass of wine and a water, usually would have more wine but I started on this new pain medication and wine isn't going over well with it. Makes me extremely sleepy. The food was great though just Pub fare, pizza from Pizza Pizza, French Fries, Chicken Wings, potato skins with bacon and cheese, endless popcorn. We had Hagen daaz ice-cream bars for dessert. The Mascot which is a big dog with floppy ears came up and said Hi much to the delight of the children. It was a fun night and didn't cost us a dime. The downside, the home team lost. Oh well I am not that much of a hockey fan anyway unless its the major league at the Air Canada center in Toronto.

Zoe, I had totally forgotten about daylight savings. I woke up, wondering why I woke up so early. Then I walked into the kitchen and the time was 9:30, when I was sure I had just seen it as just after 8, and then assumed I must have fallen back asleep, lol.

TZ moment, sKally ; )

Then I checked the computer and it was 8:30 again.

More TZ moments, sKally!

Then I went downstairs and asked hubby... "WHAT time is it? Do YOU know????"

LOL.

We did get a nice little dump of snow. Wet snow too, so very heavy. But you're right, Shelby... at least i did get all that fall cleaning done, because I am NEVER prepared with hats and mits and winter boots and coats... and for once, I AM prepared, lol. I wore my clean boots, and my freshly washed hat from the pile of freshly washed hats ; )

Zoe, you gotta love the free nights out. Glad you had a good time!!

Peace,
tammy

Good morning!

The older lady two doors down fell in the alley behind our house (on the ice, because the alley road is just covered in ice and frozen slush) at around 6 am this morning. My husband was out in the shop, because he leaves for work at that time in the morning. So he heard her calling out to him after she fell. Otherwise she would have been out there for at least another hour or two, on the ice and snow. I got her family, and called the ambulance, and they took care of her. She had a knee replacement last year, and thinks that she broke her leg in her fall; plus her head bounced off the pavement.

We have a news and a police chopper in Edmonton, and one of them circled a bit, because I'm sure all they could see was someone on the ground and others standing around her; but I had already called the ambulance by then.

It just made me think of how easy it is for someone out alone in the winter here to fall, and really, to freeze to death. Because not another person came into the alley at all, during all that. Good hour and a half. I am sure we have all heard stories of older men and women, or young children, wandering out or getting hurt, and freezing to death. It isn't cold enough for that to happen here yet, but a -30 (celcius), it doesn't take long at all.

Her poor puppy too, she was all tucked up against her, growling when I came near. She is such a tiny little thing, but she was doing her best to protect her 'mum'. She won't be walking her pup for a while, and of course all she was worried about was getting her grandson to school and that he not forget his bus money; and getting her husband to a doctor's appointment that he had that morning.

Anyway... good morning!

Peace,
tammy

Wow, what a morning you've had already! So glad YOU were there,

Enjoy your day
Justmom.

I'm so afraid of ice as well. I had two bad falls in it and am still feeling it I believe. Sucks!

Good thing you and hubby were there to help the lady Tammy. Frost and ice can be so dangerous can't it? Now that I'm older I'm much more wary of falling, don't quite bounce so well anymore!

Maybe broke her leg, yikes, but also HIT HER HEAD - YOWSA, dear tec (mornin' and peace to you, luv!). I hope she'll be alright! And the puppy - LOLOLOL! Oh, yeah, the little ones can be VICIOUS if they think you're a threat to them or 'mum', etc. LOLOLOL! Is it possible for your oldest to help with walking him/her? Maybe not, no worries - and maybe HER grandson/hubby can do it. I do wish I had some young person to walk mine on occasion... but they can be SUCH idjits, I'd be too afraid to put that on some kid - LOLOL!

I hope she mends, soon AND well... and I, too, am glad you dear folks were there for her! She could'a developed hypothermia, if not froze to death!

Peace... and thanks for sharing your escapade with us!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shellamar

Her grandson will take care of her, and walk the dog, I am sure. He is very responsible young man. (16 I think) He lives with his grandparents. Apparently, his mom lives just down the street and has much younger children, but he has lived with his grandma for at least as long as we have lived here (3 1/2 years). He had no problem running for his mom when he saw his grandma lying in the alley. Poor kid too, he ran out of his house in a t-shirt and pants; he was so worried about her.

I'll check on her later; I don't even know her name. She talks with my husband out back now and then though. She has adored him since he built a small skateboard ramp for her grandson.

Peace,
tammy

Glad you and hubby were there for her; I hate anything to do with winter; unlike Shelby I cannot even stand to look at pictures of snow. Hope she doesn't have any serious injuries.

Oh, I love winter (though sometimes it is a shock when it just gets dropped on us out of the blue, lol). But i also got to thinking about how our emergency response personnel have extra challenges to overcome in the winter months. Because they couldn't roll the stretcher over the frozen slush piles. They had to kind of roll, life, steady, etc. And also make sure they don't trip and slip too.

Apparently, they had to go to an alternate hospital too, because the closes was full up with ambulances already that morning. I also had to pull over for one a couple hours later going out to buy some melting salt for the front sidewalk.

We get better after the first warning bell like this (which this snowfall dump is our warning bell). "okay, winter is coming, get ready, this is your only warning!"

Peace to you!

tammy
