Hope Char is over allergies.

Thanks, justmom, but, sadly, no!

Yesterday afternoon, suddenly, there was a tickle in my nose and suddenly it was just like the Great Flood all over again! And still is! I am going through tissues at a fair rate of knots.

This always happens to me at this time of year, and I have no idea just which particular pollen is causing the problem. Probably some kind of seeding grass.

Sorry for the disgusting details, everyone! Hope everyone else is well and happy, (which I am apart from my nose so no sympathy sought!) and a general hi! to all!

I suffered from allergies for YEARS, dear Char (peace!), both rhinitus as well as dermatitis (severe eczema). I have a buttload of medicines that I'm allergic to. This tendency was one reason I was raised in San Diego (my parents were advised to raise us (my sister, who suffered even worse, and I) in either Arizona, Hawaii, or southern Cali. Since dad was in the Navy... and mom didn't want to leave the mainland... it was 'Diego.

I suffered more when I moved to Sacramento... and a bit more when I moved to the Bay Area... until I changed my insulin. NOW... I don't have a single allergy (other than to certain meds). No rhinitus, no eczema, nada.

Which is great... because allergies were the reason I was on corticosteroids for 24 years (although the manufacturers recommend up to one year and definitely no more than 5 years!)... which messed me up good, girl. Type 1 (versus type 2) diabetes... and almost a plethora of other "stuff" (that I'm in the process of trying to resolve now).

So, I can sympathize with your "suffering"... and while I don't envy you, I would say, "Learn to love your tissue and stay away from nasal, topical, or other kinds of steroids!"

Peace... and relief, soon!

A slave of Christ,

Shellamar

I do firmly and determinedly refuse all steroids!

I'm very much a "solve it organically" kind of person in most things. And try to eat organic food as much as possible, though organic meat isn't easy to come by here. (Yes, the veggie experiment is long over!)

Of course, sometimes that might mean cure it or endure it! And it could always be that this time round I've just got a good old-fashioned honest-to-goodness cold! LOL!

We'll see. :)

OH steroids and drugs seem to be the easy way out for the doctors, but I do think its probably going to kill people or cause other severe problems if they are used regularly.

I know that when I got my first MS attack in 2008 and was paralysed completely on my right side, they gave me prednisone (steroid) for 2 weeks and I was all better for a time. Some days I so want to say give me some of that stuff but I resist and my doctor won't. It made me paranoid and my personality changed, short tempered and that was not me. Some people it bloats them up to twice their size and apparently it attacks your bones and disintegrates them. I so wish they would find a natural steroid, they are great for the moment but then you pay the piper.

My Mom got brain cancer and they gave her steroids (prednizone) to reduce the swelling, it really helped a lot and in her case since she was terminal the continued use prolonged her life. However the poor woman is dying but she blew up like a blowfish in about a month, she was so upset with her appearance.

I know a lot of people who have Crohns disease and they lose a lot of weight with that when it flairs up they generally give them steroids but then they swell right up but feel better. That one is a toss up as to what is the worse evil.
In the case of allergies I would say their are other ways less drastic. As I said I had to seek refuge in climate controlled houses or buildings and avoid the countryside.

Char my heart goes out to you with the allergies, it is a miserable thing but at least you know its going to go away with the weeds demise. ((((Hugs))))

WOW!

Ya, scary stuff! I've heard of Shelby's experience on them for years. NO BUENO!!

Sorry about them Char, but glad you haven't given in to the steroids. Hopefully its almost over. How long on average do they last? :((

Usually, not so much into August, justmom, though increasingly over the last couple of years I've developed new allergies and adverse reactions even to substances that have up to now caused me no problems. Unfortunately, I've become allergic to a variety of medications and antibiotics.

It was, after all, a medication that the specialist ordered my doctor to give me that put me in hospital earlier this summer. I've since talked to others who have had it. Most take it with no side effect. It floored me, literally!

My instinct is to eat as organically and as simply as possible. I try to wear natural fabrics too; I've never tolerated artificial fibres very well.

~slowly sips her coffee~

mornin'.....

just wanted to say that. that, and try to shake the disgust off me. i really am getting better at this. but man, if i hadn't read it verbatim, i'd probably have to spend hours searching for it...but there it was. plain as day.

so yea, it is an icky feeling knowing how they think and feel about us, yet preach a totally different fairytale for and to the handicapped community.

glad i saw it though, because it is USEFUL.

hope you have a pleasant weekend.

Good morning : )

I am still on vacation, but had to come home to work a couple days this weekend, so I can at least say HI to everyone!! Hubby and I have the house to ourselves this weekend though. My mom took me on a shopping spree for clothes, so I had a new outfit, and then hubby took me for new shoes (that was fun... then we went out to dinner, and came home and watched some new movies just the two of us.

(I can't reply on my mom's computer... I can only pm... so while I thought I could check in while I was at her place, I apparently cannot.)

Anyway, just wanted to say hi! I'll officially be home on Thursday.

Peace!!

tammy

So, peace to you all and hasta manana/Monday!

Morning everyone Image

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend, I know Loz is and sounds like Shelby is too. Lucky Tammy, you got some well deserved pampering happening.

We are having a long holiday weekend here, the weather is sunny and cool. My daughter was supposed to visit today with her son and boyfriend but they cancelled at the last minute :/ . Oh well we need to sort this place out and this will give us more time rather than visiting and cooking and cleaning. That's it for me, nothing exciting or fun going on.

LOVELY wedding (peace to you, all!). Not 14 bridesmaids, as I'd thought: 6... plus two maids of honor... plus two flower girls. So... 10 sets - LOLOLOL! But it was lovely and fun! VERY nice setting and got to visit with family and see some extended family I hadn't in a while, as well as meet new family (the bride's side).

It was way off in the boonies, in an area where I didn't even know anything WAS, let alone a country club AND residential area!! Due to an error on the directions that came with the invitation, we... and apparently several others... went 30 miles out of our way (well, 15 miles out and 15 miles back!)... before getting on the right road - LOLOLOL! But dear hubby and I reasoned that, well, we got to see some countryside we might not ever have otherwise (Me: "Yeah, so when we hear folks talkin' about, 'Oh, yeah, we went campin' out at..." WE can say, "Oh, yeah! WE'VE been out there, uh-huh! All down that road!" LOLOLOL!)

But all went very well, very nice... estranged family and their... mmmmmmm... current "issues" notwithstanding - LOLOLOL!

Chillin' out today. No movies (well, not at the theater - LOLOL!), no car trips. Nada. Just stayin' home, marinatin'. May take pups for walk a bit later (since they missed yesterday's), but maybe not. I'se t'ard. Made hubby huevos rancheros with bacon, frijoles, and garlic naan for breakfast (which was pretty good, too!). Got some slices of a BEAUTIFUL eggplant "leaching"... and will make eggplant parmesan with pork cutlet for dinner (hubby's dinner; I don't eat eggplant - ugh!).

May do some work. May not. It's a GLORIOUS day (because it is yet another day!)... I'm "grown"... and so I don't HAVE to do nuthin' I don't WANT to! LOLOLOL!

Peace... and hope you all have a LOVELY day... wherever you are and whatever you choose to do!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shellamar

Yes, Good morning and afternoon....

Yes, it was a lovely wedding. Absolutely beautiful setting and golf course. It was a treat to be the ones catered to verses me being the worker bee remembering those LONG night and drunk peeps everywhere.
Glad you are resting today. Hope hubby is resting as well.

Took a super long walk with the doggy and it was much hotter than I expected. Poor Ollie plopped in my lap and didn't move the whole trip home.
He's sleeping and I'm chilling on the couch... 8) 8) 8)

So have a great rest of the weekend.
Love y'all
Justmom.
