A traditional Portuguese dish is collard greens soup, what we call "caldo Verde"
Here:

Done with potatoes (puree) and Portuguese sausage ( spicy if you like it that way).
Eaten with corn bread.

Paul,
Man, that sound delicious. Might have to take make. I know it would be a hit in my family.
Thanks for sharing.

I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that it will serve to incriminate me.

You are most welcome, just a word of warning:
Once you had Portuguese sausage, that is all you will want and there is no turning back.
Be forewarned...

Any of you see that new commercial where the guy talks to little kids, trying to say that "it" (I forget what he's selling) isn't "that complicated" (meaning, it's as simple as children, but what the children in the ad say is NEVER simple? In one of those, he is asking them about large numbers. One little boy says (I think) "a million"... and the man says something like, "No, higher." So another little boy says "10." Okay.

Then another little boy says "infinity"... and the man says, "We were thinking of something bigger," so another kid says "infinity plus one!"

The man looks at the kid and before he can say anything, one of the little girls says:

"How about infinity TIMES infinity!!?

At this point, a little black girl says, "Ohooooooo!" (as in, like, Oh, SNAP!) and the man gestures as if his head just exploded.

Seen that?

Well, I'm that little black girl. In response to dear Loz's question... and dear Tec's following question (peace to you, both!), consider me to have said:

Ohooooooo!... and even Oh, SNAP!

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

Peace, chikkens!

Shellama

Don't know the recipe, it's guarded and passed on from mother to daughter/mother-in-law to daughter-in law.
I once tried to sneak a peak when it was being made and got hit with a wooden spoon.
In the head.
Portuguese women... :8O
