Oooh, Star Trek! I LOVE Star Trek, dear EE (again, peace to you!). I did some volunteer work at the SF Annual Star Trek convention back in October. It was GREAT! Levar Burton is HILARIOUS!! No, really... and a VERY nice man. He told us that he and PBS are going to be starting a "Reading Rainbow" for adults... and his OFFICE is here in my town! So, of course, I had to go up and talk with him. He was VERY gracious!

I had heard that Michael Dorn was a bit of a "pill"... and he did not disappoint. Very aloof and seemed kind of diva-ish and full of himself. I took a photo with George Takei, though... and dear tec (peace, chile'!) and I exchanged photos this past xmas season!

I LOVED the last movie: the actors were SO true to character... and I KNEW Uhura and Spock had a "thing" (they HAD to - she was too good for Kirk, that man-ho - LOLOLOL!). So I was overjoyed about their "affair"... and am looking SO forward to the next release!

So, which is your favorite Star Trek series? Mine are the original, then "Next Generation" and "Voyager" tie. But I also loved "Deep Space Nine," so... heck, I loved them ALL! I hope they start a new series (after the movie) so that the current generation can join us (without having to go retro).

Which is/are your favorite character(s)? Mine are Spock and Uhura, of course, then Deanna Troy (and Worf was, but I don't know if I can get past Dorn, now), then Capts. Janeway and Sisko, and finally Six of Nine. I loved Data, Chakotay, Tuvoc, and the hologram doctor, too! Heck, I don't think there was a character I didn't like (although I didn't particularly care for the Ferengi or Romulons).

Peace... and c'mon, man, share! I have been itchin' to talk "Trekkie" (although, I'm not an expert (high intermediate/lower advanced, depending on the series).

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

SA

LOL... Worf and Dorn look and sound so very different, that I can get past Dorn to enjoy my Worf. But Worf was always my favorite, and also Data, and Picard (not Riker so much though)

I have pics up around somewhere from my convention, and I was a TNG blue uniform in that. If I could put together that Klingon wedding outfit (that Worf and Dax wore from DS9), I would do that for the next convention.

I confess to loving Spock and Uhura in the remake Star Trek, but I loved Karl Urban as McCoy. He is my number one favorite in that cast. (helps that I have a little crush on Karl Urban)

Peace,
tammy

i wouldnt want to violate copywrites and such...

Oh, sorry, dear EE (again, peace to you!), I should probably clarify: you are totally able to post things from other sites here... so long as they are not copy written there... and don't consist of... mmmm... "contentions/disputes" being engaged in there/elsewhere. We think the latter should be kept to the site on which such originates (unless you are starting entire discussion afresh here. In which case, we ask that the thread not include "maligning" of posters, admin, or moderators from other sites... in ANY way; we just don't think that's very kind, has any productive value, and really don't see the point, so we've asked posters not to do that here.

Otherwise, please... feel totally free to share your post/thread, unless it contains what I've stated above. In which case, feel free not to.

I hope that helps and please let us know if you have any questions - anyone of us would be happy to clarify, particularly myself, our Admin, and/or any moderator.

Peace to you!

YOUR servant and a slave of Christ,

SA

I think the new Star Trek movies beginning with te J.J. Abrams version are not part of the same time/reality as the other ones. So what they do, do not lead up to what happens in the original series, TNG, Voyager, DS9, etc

Agreed. Which just makes it more exciting. I think they made that clear in the first one... there was a line that I can't remember, but I laughed, because they were pretty much saying that this was a whole new time/reality, and they didn't have to follow the original.

Peace,
tammy

thats cool, ive never made it to a convention...

I have heard the same about Dorn, but I really really liked DS9 when he got involved... i think he did a great job with worf!

Takai's facebook page is hysterical and a great read. check it out if you get a chance, parts of it will make you lol for sure

I was always partial to TNG, but abolutly feel in love with DS9 as it progressed. A few DS9's are my aboslute favorite of ANY star trek series..

Hellpuppy: yea they made it clear in the last one that they were abandoning the timeline and rebooting. Some were deeply offended but it was so good i embraced it

I'm not a huge Trek fan, although I did watch some of the new ones for a while. But I LOVE Takai! I'll have to check that FB page out. He cracks me up. What a great sense of humor. There is a youtube video of him reading scenes from 50 Shades of Gray. I won't post the vid, since it's a bit racy, and maybe that wouldn't be appreciated by all here, but if you don't mind that kind of thing, look it up on youtube. VERY FUNNY.

I'll post this video though, cuz I think it's funny, and has a good point.

I love all of Star Wars and all of Star Trek, my least favourite being Enterprise, though it improved, for me, as it went along. My favourite would be the original, and TNG, but oh! Then there's DS 9, and Voyager, which I loved...oh, I love the whole lot!

I reposted the video for you, dear NC (good day and peace to you!), because I think it's great! Mr. Takei spoke profusely about his gay activism during the convention, but even more his activism for Canadian-American Muslims (his community was VERY alarmed and concerned that post-9/11 fear and propaganda would result in another "Japanese internment" situation for that community. He's a great speaker and it was great stuff!

Re posting videos, next time click the "UTube" icon after you highlight the address, versus "Quote". Don't worry - most of us made similar mistakes when WE started - LOLOLOL!

Peace!

I may have said elsewhere that a year or so ago he was on a celebrity challenge type of TV programme here, and he proved to be a lovely guy, a really good sport, kind and funny too!

Hello ElderE!

What a surprise to see you here, when i logged on this morning! If you check your PM's you'll find one from me.

You don't like the second Star Wars trilogy? You're on your own there, I haven't met anyone else who doesn't like it. Anything Star Wars is good, to me!
