Earlier this evening while looking for another poster's intro/background I was amazed to find that I hadn't introduced myself! How remiss of me, sorry.

Ok, briefly, 20 odd years involved with the WTBS following a difficult young life, married to a full blown misogynist but not knowing that til much later...I was anointed in 1992 in my early 40s. Shocking within the org who expected only 'perfect' elderly ones to claim such. The anointing changed me forever, was unable to accept the hypocrisy within the K Halls and repeatedly fought for the underdogs, to the elders frustration. Found so much joy though in this apparent reward for my faith and love for my heavenly father.

Finally, after so long in a toxic marriage I divorced, not something an anointed one would do, but, my physical, psychological and spiritual life was on the line, so I did it. It cost me dearly, was so hard. Got Dfd soon after for unrelated confession of weakness, which was considered unrepentant, despite my grief,l and watched my adult kids turn away for me and begin the shunning.

Survived a cancer and decided to fight for the life I had left. In time remarried a wonderful 'worldly' man and returned to university. Graduated this year with a First Class Honours and currently training to teach/lecture in Adult Education. Eventually read CofC and joined JWN a few years ago. A good move I believe. 'Met' Tec and AGuest on there.

Am uninvolved with any organised religion, don't trust them, but still partake of the emblems and treasure my relationship with Jah and his son. Enjoying sharing spiritual things with similar folk now who find themselves in the same/similar situations. Still estranged from my children but coping.

Glad you have found a good companion and congratulations on your teaching degree!~

Happy that you are freed from the WTBS although my prayers will be for your childrens hearts to soften up to you so they may be a part of your life again.
My husband and I are not joined to any religion also and we partake at home also.

Thank you Just Mom, you're very kind. Yes I've seen many of your posts and valued them highly.

Tec, you've always expressed this hope on my threads, I appreciate it very much. You're right, who knows, one day? It's become manageable these days, if such a thing can be, I'm glad to say.

What does it mean to be "anointed" in the JW circle? I assume its something to do with the 144k thing.

Is it something people just claim and it's taken as truth or do boards sanction claims?

The JWs indeed say that only 144k will be anointed. They insisted that the 'calling' for those ended in the 1930s, any who claimed afterwards were thought to be replacements for unfaithful ones. They presumed that such replacements would be old people of long standing high reputations and the magazines promoted that idea. Their subsequent new light has changed to suggest there is another call for the 144k in the last of the last days. Then lately they've changed the relevance and identity of such anyway. Now only the GB have any 'special' relationship with God.

There were no boards to face, a lot of gossip usually generated by elders, instead. But with magazines intimating that many claiming were 'mentally diseased' it want an easy ride!

Of course I have since come to understand that the WTBS don't have the monopoly on anointed ones, rather they can be found in many different religions around the world.

How lovely of you to want to write a special intro!

When I read of your experiences and achievements I am in awe of what you have done! And in suffering what you have you turn it around and give. you give online in your kindness to others, including me, and the friendship that you offer, and in sharing your insights and now here in courageously putting your experiences online for all to see.

Through the lines of what you write it's clear that you also give of yourself offline too, in the "real" world, in education (and how much you will be doing that in the future is implicit in all you write) and personally.

Oh, and by the way, many congratulations on achieving a First! THAT takes some doing!!!!

Ah, thank you Char, that's so nice of you. I give it my best shot to reflect Christ, failing miserably only too often, but it's a 2 way street and I've received great support and kindness in the post-JW world from many good people, including yourself.

I've no idea how I failed to do my intro here originally. In fact I was convinced I had, lol, growing old brings its problems!

I just don't feel "safe" sharing my personal details online...I feel all too easily identifiable!

Loz, thanks for the intro. So you’re another anointed one, like Larsinger58 who has just joined the forum. Apparently not only is he anointed but also the Christ. As a women you will not be able to match that I’m afraid. Shame about your divorce. I thought marriages were meant to be toxic, like a good booze up.

More seriously I’m sorry to hear about the shunning and cancer. You certainly have been through the mill. Lets hope you can enjoy some peace in your life from now on.

You have gone through much and that has given strength, courage and faith.
Keep at it.

The very name Christian carries with it the meaning of being anointed.
As Paul said, only by the HS can one proclaim Christ as Our Lord and Saviour and in doing so, we are sealed (anointed) by the HS.
