So it seems that forumatic - our host for the past few years - is shutting down by December 20th. So we will once again be moving. This time, however (unlike the first time we moved and copy-pasted everything over), we should be able to simply export all of our data and layout onto a new hosting server (that has already been found, recommended by forumatic itself).


I will keep everyone posted. This will be happening some time in the next couple of weeks. I am hoping it will be a nice and smooth transition, but we will be down for a couple of days during the process.


I probably have most emails of our members saved and so can email anyone who has not checked in recently, but if anyone wants mine for reassurance, just pm me, and I will send it to you.

You know, it might be best if we just go ahead and do transfer now. I know I won't be posting before the weekend and so this might be a more convenient time. Also, I think I'd rather post after the change to ensure nothing new gets "lost" in the transfer.

If you have time, of course, and want to/can do it, now. If not, no worries.

Well, it looks like I am going to try and get it started today then. I'm on days off; got no other pressing matters. Seems like a good time to get started. I have a couple of things to read and organize, then the site will be down for a couple of days (a message explaining this will take its place). If it takes a bit longer than that, no one worry. I've just never done it before. (not counting the last move that was done manually... this time, unlike the Israelites, we have 'packers and movers' so to speak, lol)

I think our new domain/url will simply be xjwsforchrist.com... in case someone's email gets lost in the move.

So it looks very complicated, and I handed over the migration process to the blue host people. So I don't think the forum is going to go offline, but it might take several days for things to move over. If we post anything during this time, the new stuff will probably be lost. But the site has to remain "live". I will let everyone know when everything is good.

If for some reason this does not work, then I will do it myself, manually, next week.

If you want to install new themes, you can get some free ones from a few places. Here's a couple.

It looks like you're on version 3.0.13 (I figured out how to find the version #), so the 3.1 ones probably won't work.

I figured out how to keep the regular style (it was so easy actually), so now I just need to figure out how to upload the sheep.


I hope everyone makes it over. Please check in if you do make it so I can be assured that you had no problems. I will email members who do not check in after 3 weeks, when the old forum disappears completely.

Actually, you should still be able to sign in over there (just not to post), and then you can copy-paste anything you want to bring over here that did not make it in the migration. Like the two comments from our newest member's thread: That One Girl. (welcome to the forum by the way, That One Girl!!) But the thread itself did make it over, so the video is also here : )
