THESILENCE SAID My apologies... my poetry tends to be Seuss-like in nature. Quote: So she sits there at school, in the back of the room Contemplating futures of nothing but gloom Surrounded by kids who are laughing with mirth And she's part of the happiest people on earth? They must be all evil, the demons hold sway This can be explained in no other way And yet something just doesn't feel right in her chest Just a feeling she gets when her guard is at rest Her father has told her, all these people will die In her heart she wonders why, dear god, why She knows her classmates have done petty deeds Lied about homework, taunted and teased But death just seems such a harsh price to pay For children just learning to find their own way But this is god's will and support it she must Or she will become, with them all, nothing but dust So she stifles her thoughts and turns to her prayer A hollow act with no spiritual feeling there She bends her thoughts and her will, as wrong as it feels All the while silently dragging her heels _________________ Just a clever, quiet, unusual entity living in near equanimity. |

THESILENCE SAID She sits at the meetings, and knows it's her fate For herself she feels nothing but loathing and hate For she knows that she simply cannot comply To submitting her will to some random guy So marry she must, or submit to them all And yet no one interests her there at the hall She wants to share thinking, ideas, and thoughts But for acceptable mates, these are all nots She feels trapped and lost, no option looks good Just one glimmer of hope and she'd take it, she would But knowledge is stifled, marriage looks grim School or career, the chances are slim Isolated childhood, no future that's bright How come the truth just feels so not right? |

TEC SAID Oh, those are good, Silence. They paint a very clear picture of how you felt. Bending your thoughts and your will... that stood out the strongest to me. Peace, tammy |

AGUEST SAID Dr. Seuss not by a longshot, dear TS (peace to you!). I "felt" this young girl's angst... and fear for her future. Sigh - so MANY lives ruined, so many opportunities to LIVE denied. Please do me a favor and consider that the reason it didn't feel "right" or like the "truth" is because it wasn't... and that that wasn't God's fault... or doing? It never could have been, what's written in the OT withstanding. It couldn't have been... because you can't see Christ in any of that. And without him, there can be no truth in a such a place. Thank you and, again, peace to you! Your servant and a slave of Christ, SA |

VELVET SAID Oh Jackie, you expressed it perfectly. I would bet there are 1000's of us who felt the same way but didn't know how to express it verbally. Most of us kept it inside suffering. Its wonderful to be able to be creative and therupeutic at the same time. Thanks for sharing |

COCO SAID Beautifully and poignantly expressed, TheSilence. You're excellent at rhyme, though that's secondary to your message. Isn't it interesting how we say the same thing but in different manners? I feel as if I come from another century when I talk and write. Must be my upbringing ... With gratitude, CoCo |

GLADIATOR SAID All the poets are out tonight - must be the heat. Even gladiators write poems but that would be telling. We have some talent on this new forum. Very enjoyable to see folks freely expressing their feelings. |

NAMBO SAID I joined when I was in my late 20s, to me the message was relayed as, and excepted as, God doing something wonderful to the Earth. Of course most of my new friends were brought up in the truth, and of course they wouldn't have dared relate how the "truth" must appear to a young one, so I had no idea. Thank you for your lovely poem and the insight into a young Witnesses heart that it reveals. |

SOFT/GENTLE SAID what transfixes me about the poem is the thought of a small child having to deal was such huge issues. Hugeness and smallness in stark contrast. So her feet drag but she keeps going. She looks for a glimmer of hope although there is none. She prays despite there being nothing. there is nothing but herself and her musings about what she sees around her to bring her through - courage and fragility together. my 2 cents |
