Just found this browsing the internet and thought it was lovely.

The truth is that we unconditionally love and are unconditionally loved in turn by all the people that we've NEVER actually met: Unconditional love exists in a space where judgement is absent, and the closest most of us get this state is with the folk we don't know. We have no stories about them and therefore no judgements. Why then are we not all constantly walking around falling in love with every stranger we meet? Because most of us have been brought up from an early age with two fundamentally flawed emotional perceptions. 1. That love is breakable, should be guarded and is not guaranteed. 2. That 'your' love is not abundant and therefore should not be available to everyone. When we add to these flawed though forms the impact of entertainment media and news, we start to see that the space of no judgement is bombarded by information that focuses almost entirely on groups of people we've never met, and gives us a story to tell ourselves about them. Then when we meet someone who reminds us of a 'type of person' from a recent media story, whether it's black kids robbing stores, perverts raping grannies, Jews winning the lottery or Americans getting fatter, we now have a preconceived story about a person we've never met based on their weight, colour, age, religion and the fear that they might be a granny raping pervert. This is the only reason that we do not fall spontaneously in love with people when we meet them for the first time. Because we all have this garbage in our heads. And so do they. Next time you pass a homeless person that stirs your soul, give them £20 and tell them that you love them. Next time you see a child crying in the street, be the first to go over and pick up that child, kiss them and ask them if they are lost. Next time the person in front of you is short and struggling with change, pay the difference for them. Next time someone nabs a parking space you were waiting for... ok we're not all perfect... But these acts are acts of Agapé, the type of love that comes pouring in through your crown from somewhere outside your physical body, and abundantly flooding out of you, spilling into the local universe of everyone you meet. This is unconditional love. It doesn't require recognition, because it is effortless. When you're in it you can't help but be a constant outpouring of it. And when others stand in the field of it, they begin to do the same. The Revolution will not be won on the battlefield. It will be won in the heart of Humanity. 29th October 2013 @[136263736430938:274:Simon Welsh Poetry]
