You don't sound like a wuss. My work is 20-30 minutes away, on a bad highway, and I struggled deciding whether or not I would take the job because of those reasons - time and the bad road. I decided to take the interview, and try the drive. Which wasn't so bad, and now I enjoy it. But if it is too hard a drive in the winter, and too much longer because of the road conditions, I'll probably give it up for something else.

Greetings all, and sorry for neglecting this thread (peace to you!).

Oh, dear Zoe, I hope you've been able to recover... fully, if not somewhat. I HATE moving... and can't imagine having to do it in your situation AND without sufficient help. I almost shuddered as I read your account. I truly hope you and dear John can finally get "settled" in and back to (the good) normal as soon as possible. Moving is stressful enough on its own... and you need some uninterrupted down time, now.

Loz, luv... peace to you... and, well, I did the commute thing for ten years. 1-1.75 hours each way, depending on the job. I also had one that was a little more than 2 driving hours away (overseeing student/staff/faculty housing for a state university). For that one I took an apartment in the area and dear hubby and I met up on the weekends, either there or here. Is that an option for you? Or even moving entirely (it wasn't for us, as hubby had his job, so I get that it might not be for you, either). I can't imagine having to drive all that way now, although I am contemplating a business that will require a lot of driving (just locally, though).

Moving isn't an option Shelby (thanks for the input), I might have to think about some staying over midweek on occasion though.

More info today suggests there may be a way to car/travel share, so we will have to see. The more info about the post I'm receiving, the more I am liking it.

LOZ, I personally have never had to travel far for work but my hubby has quite a bit for a while.
When you are younger, things are and seem much easier. Your able to push in areas for a while that seem to have no long term side effects.
But I realize it does get harder getting a little older. If it is something you really see yourself doing and loving, give it a try. Although I know you and your dear hubby I'm sure don't want to see you spread too thin.
Let us know how your feeling. Take it to Jah. He will help you with your decision.

Morning everyone, its another beautiful day here in Kawartha Lakes, I have been listening to the boats running around the lake since 7 AM, everyone is in summer mode here, especially the birds and Loons.

I am feeling more positive today, hope there is no setbacks, so far there has been challenges almost daily. Yesterday it was the freezer in the brand new frost free stainless steel fridge, it was forming huge amounts of ice in it and the landlord didn't believe me. I finally after 3 weeks had a repairman here and he fixed it, gee whiz a brand new appliance and it was broken from day 1 lol. Now its running nicely and no ice anywhere except in the icemaker.

I hope your job decision will be a positive one Loz and its not to hard on you whatever it is.

I have nothing much to offer right now in the way of contribution to the site but maybe soon when I regain my peace of mind.

In the meantime, keep seeking, keep asking, keep knocking, dear, dear Zoe (mornin' and peace to you... and to you ALL!). Oh, and perhaps consider let's revisit the Spanish thread? Maybe post some "inspiring" phrases/words? Just to get your mind off things that are robbing it of peace, right now? Going back, I remember that room being a joy for you. It still can be, dear one! I will even start.
