Thanks, dear Zoe (mornin' and peace to you, luv!). Not sure how good of a holiday it's going to be for ME... because I am absolutely EXHAUSTED! What, tell you all about it? Why SURE! LOLOLOL!

My pups do NOT do well at ALL with fireworks... and the "celebration" really started last night. We live within earshot of the noise from the Oakland Coliseum (when there's festivities) and due to an A's game there was... you guessed it... a HUGE fireworks show. SO many attended in fact, that it took me some time to even get ON the freeway yesterday to go pick up dear hubby from the ferry (BART, our rapid transit system, is on strike so he can't use his usual mode of public transit to commute). Traffic was backed up several exits and folks in the lane for the exit to the Coliseum were SO paranoid that someone would jump in front of them that they wouldn't even let those on the entry ramps onto the freeway!! So I sat... WAITING to get on the freeway for close to 10 minutes... while watching folks actually ON the freeway whiz by... because there was no traffic ON the freeway! ARGGHHHH!

Anyway, when I got back home I drugged the pups after dinner with a bit of Benadryl, which calmed them down... until we went to bed. My biggest girl, LiLi, did well. She only trembled a bit but managed to stay calm and sleep pretty much all through the night. The OTHER two, though? O... M... G. The little girl, LayLay, had several panting jags but due to the medicine couldn't really pace, so she laid and panted in my EAR... until about 3am! She finally fell asleep, utterly exhausted. The boy, LuLu, though... NEVER WENT TO SLEEP! You woulda thought I'd gave that rascal some SPEED! He was up and down and up and down and shivering at EVERY little pop and noise! He paced and ran and everytime I was JUST falling asleep would pounce, literally, on my stomach!

And of COURSE... it was hot as all get out... AND I'm menopausal... so I was hot then cold then hot then cold... and so covers on covers off covers on covers off... fan on low fan on high fan on low... cool shower... back to bed... hot then cold then hot then cold...

And to top it off, I bought and ate some dried apricots yesterday... and had a pretty severe reaction to the sulphur dioxide (used to "maintain the color" or some mess like that!)... and ended up with a MASSIVE migraine! I had been getting low headaches throughout the afternoon/evening after eating them and then about 10pm... oh, Lordy! I couldn't even turn my head without feeling like I'd been struck with a bat! So... I initially went to bed to TRY and sleep it off... and well, you know the rest: virtually NO sleep at ALL! I think I finally hit a light doze around 5am.

So I am up now... but SO tired I feel a mess. What woke me up, you ask? You mean BESIDES the-little-dog-that-would-not-sleep? What woke me up was... the dang BIRDS!!! Yes ma'am, there are 3-4 songbirds in a tree RIGHT OUTSIDE MY BEDROOM WINDOW... who seem to want the entire WORLD to know they have great voices! Not just me, no, and not just my neighborhood - the WORLD.

And so I am exhausted, sleep deprived, with a sore face, neck, and shoulders from a massive headache... and wanted all of YOU dear folks to share that lovely experience with me!! BRUUUHHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

Especially given that, excluding the traffice and dried apricot induced migraine... it's all likely to occur again, tonight, for the REAL holiday.

Ay-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi...

I need a nap.

Peace... and hopefully no one really read through this "rant." If you did... YOU prolly need a nap! LOLOL!

Shellama, on her own, trying to keep her head from dropping onto the keyboard...

Oh Shelby I am going to join you with the absolutely exhausted feeling. I also hear you about the dogs and fireworks. Last weekend for 3 days the neighbors on my street did fireworks all night, I think they had a street party. My dog hates them because he doesn't understand them so he barks and growls at them to warn us and then he pants and paces cause he is nervous. He doesn't get sucky or tremble but he keeps us up all night.

I overdid it with the packing and moving and the heat yesterday. I now feel nauseous since yesterday and everything hurts and I can barely move. I don't know how I am going to get through this move :/

Oh and the birds wake us up every morning here too, there must be dozens of them outside my bedroom window. We have several trees on the front lawn and they love singing in them. They start around 5 AM. The night before we got woken up with raccoons screaming and fighting. The neighbor across the street put his garbage out in bags instead of in a bin, his garbage was torn apart and everywhere yesterday morning. grrrrrr

Okay, ya'll know the puppies are ALL conked out and FAST asleep right now, right? Even though someone's running a blower right outside the backyard fence... which usually sends them running outside (even though they all charge out the room at the same time, they have going through the doggie door one at a time almost down to a precise science, almost not even make a noise as they "sloop, sloop, sloop" through! The barking more than makes up for it, though...).

Ah, well...

Although, I do kinda feel like knocking one or two of 'em off the sofa, just to see them wake up and go, "Huh?!! Wha..!!??" Mebbe that'll teach 'em to keep ME up all night... but... nahhhhh... 'cause they really are SO cute... and QUIET... when they're asleep (and the boy is snoring just a tad!)

Peace!

Shellama, who has decided to let these particular sleeping dogs lay...

LOl... this remind me of the hubby.

Sometimes we are all relaxed and watching a show, the pup too... and he will go ahead and start bugging the dog. Riling him up, poking him, not letting him sleep, kicking him off the couch. So I asked him why in the world does he rile the dog up like that when we're all comfy?

He said,

"Because HE does it to ME all the time!"

I just stared at him, then started laughing.

Peace,
tammy

Beautiful sunny day here (at last) so the washing is blowing on the line and we're off to browse a market.

Morning
I kind of rested yesterday, just did grocery shopping. I feel better today. Poor John took a load of boxes over, nearly killed him, he is to out of shape this year for this stuff. We are headed over to the new house soon as the appliances are being delivered finally. we will take some stuff with us so not to waste the trip. I have to take small appliances over, blender, food processer etc and find room for them.

We couldn't get anyone to take our black leather couch so I am leaving it here for the landlords, grrrrr no room for it at the new place.

Its raining here today and supposed to all day, that is better for moving as not to HOT.

Have a great day everyone.

GOODNESS, dear Zoe (mornin' and peace to you, luv!): how DOES one know how to DRESS where you live?? LOLOLOL! Although it is a challenge, I am so glad to hear that you two lovebirds are making your way over to the new digs - I really think you are going to be MUCH happier there... given the space and conduciveness to your mobility! Re that couch, make sure old landlord won't charge you to store/dispose of it - some will (although, new tenants MIGHT like/want, so...).

Anyway, you are an inspiration, my dear, please know that. Your strength AND courage continually delight me! Thank you for sharing your experiences and feelings with us (I do, too, so you KNOW I appreciate it - LOLOL!). It makes it all very real, which makes it easier to "know" you (and dear John - LOLOL!).

Keep your head up, girl! You'll be in and settled in no time and have forgotten all about the move time!

Peace!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shellama

We are here now, I was wrong, it's terribly humid and hot now. John loaded the van full up and I packed inside. He was cranky because hen was sweating so bad. Now I am slowly unpacking.

I asked the landlady if she wanted the sofa and the storage bench. She was delighted to have it. Why not though as the sofa is leather and like new.

Now to do more unpacking.

Good morning!!

Sorry for the humidity Zoe... that is the worst!

Really excited for you being in your new place though. At least you don't have to do the whole move in a single weekend. Ditto what Shelby said about your strength and courage too!

When we first moved to Alberta, we discovered this horrible rule: You have to be out by noon on the last day of the month; but you cannot be in your new place until noon on the first of the month.

Seriously? There is a whole 24 hours in there, with all of your stuff and nowhere to go! Its because there is almost a 0% vacancy rate here, so every place is always rented (except usually for renovations)

Lots of times you can make arrangements... if the people leaving the place you're moving into leave early. But there was one time when we got stuck with this thing... what a pain!! Lots of people just keep their stuff in a moving van overnight, and some moving companies just store stuff overnight too. For a fee of course ; )

Peace,
tammy

Morning everyone....

Zoe, Wow! You are on the homeward stretch. I'm impressed as well. The challenge of moving is hard enough and you and hubby made it! And still alive!.!?? :8O ::))

Shelby, hope the puppies night was peaceful. Not too much trauma. And the headache is gone.?
It s much cooler today. Feels great.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. Gonna head out for a walk in a bit!

Love to you all today

No headache last night, dear 'Mom (peace, luv!), but I didn't eat any more of those dang apricots - LOLOLOL! Pups had a time of it, but did "well" (except that non-sleeping little boy - drat his little hiney!). It was hard up until about 11pm. I gave them more Benadryl and Laylay did well - she trembled but only slightly and just chilled. LiLi went through it for a time, but was totally exhausted by the time the festivities calmed down.

(OMG! You know that for the last two years dear hubby and I went away for the day and both Lulu and LiLi got out the first year, LiLi got out last year, and we found LayLay wandering lost on the 5th last year... and now we know WHY!! OMG, the NOISE in our neighborhood... and particulary right outside MY house!! We had NO idea! It never crossed our minds how much the pups had to endure as we were away. But I live in Oakland... and so, yeah, LOTS of "illegal" fireworks! LOTS. M-80's, gunshots, you name it! We have vowed to NEVER leave them home alone on the 4th again - we either stay or they go with. We had to swaddle and/or hold them tight off and one for close to 4 hours!

I have come to realize that I hate non-professional fireworks. Sorry, but absolutely hate them. What they do to animals, the anxiety... sigh. I am SURE the neighborhood feral cats went THROUGH it last night, poor things! And I don't particularly like THEM (they keep spraying/pooing in my yard, which STINKS!!), but I am not completely heartless - they should NOT have been exposed to that. But, now, wait... I did see traps out yesterday, so maybe the "cat lady" (who comes and takes them to be neutered/spayed) took them in somewhere for the night. I truly hope so... because the noise was AWFUL! You know I live on a corner and so it came from ALL directions!! LOLOLOL!)

Ennywho...

Glad your landlady wanted that sofa and bench, dear Zoe (peace, luv!). And, yeah, since it was leather... good for her!

Dear tams (peace!), you MUST tell me your area's secret to 0% vacancy, girl! What are you folks doing right that we're doing wrong (well, in this, cause I know there's a LOT of OTHER areas, too!) - LOLOL!

Oooh, I'm hungry. Gonna go forage...

Peace!

Shellama, on her own...
