Have any of you seen the movie Beyond Borders? ... has anyone read the book Poisonwood bible by Barbara Kingslover?

I have and I have, dear Zoe (peace to you, dear one!). Both when they first came out and both hubby and I enjoyed and were moved by both. Lot of US folks adopting Ethiopian children; so much so, I believe there is now an agency for it and an "understanding" between the two countries that helps expedite (the issues with Eritrea... and the proximity to the Sudan surely play a part, as well).

Gave daughter copy of the Poisonwood Bible in a shopping bag of books I gave her just about a month ago. Will ask her tomorrow if she's read it, yet (I don't think she has as she hasn't mentioned it yet - she's an avid reader when she can find the time, which isn't much, right now) and what she thought. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it, yet. A page turner so pretty easy read.

Peace!

Shellama, on her own... and feelin' WAY bedda, thank you kindly!

Had a great weekend with family. Visiting and eating lots!

Enjoy your day, I sorta feel like curling up on the couch like it is fall outside.

You do just that JustMom, and enjoy your chillin on that sofa!

Today was my final day as a student. It's been 4 years of wonderful studies and a fair bit of fun. I'm tired now though, and very happy to be at the end. The satisfaction of the achievements is great and am enjoying the idea of having lots of letters after my name, after a lifetime of wishing I could, when other things including the WTBS, got in the way.

A happy day, but relieved I don't ever have to write academically again, at least not for me....

Yeah, I thought that, too. Would that I COULD go back to school, though (I LOVE university!). Actually, I'm considering a couple of online courses this Fall to help bolster my "experience" and maybe even take me in a bit of a different direction. I'm actually a little excited about it, now that I think of it... and not all classes require an academic paper (I know you know that). So don't write off school just yet, my luv. Check back with us in, say, 2-4 years and let us know if you've been "bitten" by the blackboard "bug" again! LOLOLOL!

Peace to you and CONGRATULATIONS!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shellama

One important thing I learned from my University days :) Always challenge your professors on any grade they give you :) Each time I get a graded paper back I would go challenge the grade and go over my paper and reasoning with the professor. I averaged about an 8% points changed each time which typically raised my grade one level :P

Thanks for the congrats. I've no need to challenge my professors Pup, I got a First Class Honours degree and a PGCE grade of 'Outstanding', so I can't complain.

Having a JM type chilled day today, hubby's gone off to the House of Commons, no less, for the screening of our documentary, and I'm on the sofa enjoying the peace!

I have my first training shift today back to work later. I have to do 8 of them in two weeks. Bleh. But then I only work two shifts a week, so I can't complain about that ; )

Peace,
tammy

Good Morning everyone, Image

its a rainy cool day here today, not the greatest weather this year. I have to start packing but it hurts so much I keep putting it off. My back can't take it and I feel nauseous the pain is so bad. Wish I had the money to hire someone to do it but all the money has to go to hiring a moving company for the heavy lifting.

Loz congrats on finishing school and the good grades. Image

Tammy enjoy your part time job and the training Image

Its cold and rainy here too, Zoe. I've got a sweater and am wrapped in a blanket. No WAY I'm turning the heat back on in June, lol.

I'm sorry that you are hurting though. Hopefully the cold and the rain pass soon.

Peace,

tammy

Isn't it strange that we have rain here today, too? I suffer with Fibro Myalgia and M.E. and they affect my muscles and joints so I can relate, although obviously not as badly as you suffer Zoe. I was thinking about you having to pack, hopefully it will soon be all over and you can enjoy your lovely new home.

I've grabbed a blanket too Tammy lol. Cosy cosy....

Loz x

I don't think it works like that over here, Pup. :)

I think they'd be more likely to drop a grade! Though, at exam levels lower than university, especially at 16 and 18 years, one can appeal against a grading on the basis of exceptional circumstances, such as bereavement or accident or serious illness. I've known that happen, though normally, if it's known to the school, the school will submit those special case circumstances to the examiners.

At university level...possibly the same rules might apply. I'm not sure.

I have to admit that I love rainy dreary days for the coziness effect, Loz. When I was a kid, I loved the Aliens movie. Whenever it was dreary and grey and cold and drizzly, I used to walk to school pretending that I actually lived in a colony on LV426 (the planet with the aliens); and that I had to watch out for aliens in the shadows and such.

No princess fantasies for me, lol.

But I do not like the cold dreary days for the pain they cause in others, so I hope for sunny days for all of you who are hurting.

Peace,
tammy
