If I may, dear Zoe (peace to you, dear lady!), here's my take:

I THINK they were trying to reconcile a few conundrums. For example, evolution with creation. That the people were nomadic is partially true. Many were. And few cities (as we know them, even from an ancient POV) existed. Heck, we're still developing land/building cities in my state and country! LOLOLOL!
But apparently, the writer(s) believe animals were still "evolving" at that time, hence the weird "animal" (which SEEMED might be dangerous, vicious... but turned out to be quite "sweet"?). Or want the audience to believe that.

I took the flower scene to indicate the writer's belief of the near-purity of the earth at that time (it had been cursed only a few generations before, and so still had some "blessed" properties?).

Again, my take. Hated that movie, though (protested seeing it, but dear Hubs insisted, so...).

LOVED Malificent, though! LOLOLOL!

Peace!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shellamar

I truly had NO idea, dear WS (mornin' and peace to you!). I mean, I understood that perhaps the children and teens didn't understand (they hadn't "made the trooth their own", yet). But based on the ADULTS I know and have known, who were raised JWs... I truly thought MOST adult JWs knew and understood. At least, way more than I am learning they do!

I remember being SO confused on another site when sharing scriptures, verses, accounts... and folks who had been JWs as adults not having a clue. I was like, "What do you mean, you don't know who 'Joseph' was??" I just did not get that.

That's one of the reasons I included SO many verses, scriptures, etc. Because I started to realize that MOST of them didn't know their Bible. I thought, though, that they at LEAST knew their "WTBTS" (current) doctrines. That, too, was a (bit of a) shock.

Now, I'm just understanding that many who profess a union with Christ... don't know Christ. Forgive me, I do not mean that personally. Not directed at ANYONE in particular. Just sharing my surprise. I mean, I thought I was past being surprised when it came to JWs/exJWs... but apparently, I'm not. This misperception is a GREAT reason for why I "speak" to you dear ones as I often DO: I have assumed you KNOW... because our dear Lord speaks to ME, as if you do.

But perhaps he's trying to say one should STOP saying they "know"... even ACTING like they know... when in TRUTH... they do NOT. As he said to the Pharisees:

"Because you SAY you see (when they DIDN'T)... you sin REMAINS."

Dear VG (peace to you!), commented that the JW agenda is primarily pushing that they are RIGHT. And that is TRUE. If we still have that tendency, that need... to be RIGHT... then we haven't shaken off that particular piece of baggage. I mention that because you are not the only one to lament (to me) about not being right. Again... IT IS NOT ABOUT US. Being right or ANYTHING.

It's about CHRIST being right. Hence, we have to look to HIM for what is right... and true... and not to OURSELVES. If OUR being right is important to us, then the Adversary will use that. As he does with JWs. As he does with atheists. To lead us AWAY from Christ.

If CHRIST being right, however, if what's MOST important... THEN we can be led... into ALL truth. Because HIS truth will be what's most important... and acceptable... even if it's not EASY.

In needing to be right, we seek our own "glory," not his. But as the writer said:

"Let GOD be found true... though EVERY MAN a LIAR."

If we lie... and WE all have/do... we ARE liars. That's not an affront; that is a statement of TRUTH. The MOST HOLY One of Israel, JAH of Armies, however, does not lie. CANNOT lie. Nor does His Son, whose mouth ALWAYS speaks what is true, what is upright. Proverbs 8:4-7 Hence, we are to learn from HIM, listen to HIM... and speak HIS truth. Seek the kingdom... and HIS righteousness. Not be concerned about ourselves... and seek our own righteousness.

We seek our own, though, when we're worried about what PEOPLE "think" of us (which is why we "need" to be right)... and not when we we're worried about what JAH and Christ think of us. When we're worried about what THEY think (of us)... we seek THEIR righteousness. Because that's how we (can) "gauge" whether where we ARE (with them). By THEIR righteousness... not our own.

I hope that helps, dear one... truly.

ALWAYS YSSFS of Christ,

Shel

Well I watched 20 minutes of that Noah film and shut it off, that is just stupid. The rocks that are like primitive Autobots or Decepticons talking to him. I would have walked out of the movie theatre because its an insult to the story of Noah. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

Sadly, dear Z (peace, luv!) movies aren't often reviewed by the pros as to accuracy of content (artistic license undermines that) anymore, but as to cinematography, sensationalism, etc., including (and most particularly today) visual effects, such as graphics, effects, animation, costuming, set, etc. In that sense, it was a REALLY good movie. I mean, with the exception OF the "fallen (rock) angels", I could "handle" the rest of it.

It was absolutely "horrible" in its portrayal of the Biblical account, though. Which was MOST important to ME (because lies are bad enough, but lies on TOP of lies really get to me). So, again, I hated it. Thought it abominable. Even stupid.

Peace to you all!

A slave of Christ,

Shellamar

Was it even possible to get to know Christ whilst in the WT? I guess you could if you read the bible, but I didn't and Christ certainly wasn't mentioned off the platform or in the literature.

I only got to know Him once I left, I knew absolutely nothing whilst in the WT. I was told reading the 'awake' was the equivalent of a university degree lol lol lol

Absolutely, luv (peace to you!). Else, how would one who HEARD him know that it WAS him calling them OUT? How would one know that the WTBTS teachings as TO him are false? Be in union with him? Perhaps not. But come to know him so as to WANT to be in union with him... absolutely.

Yes, to some degree. Or listened to his voice, yes... in which case, you'd leave...

I understand, luv. Again, I had entirely disregarded that MANY are there NOT due to seeking or love for JAH and Christ... but to please loved ones. I forgot that... and I apologize for doing so. I forgot, though, because those I know personally who were raised in it were also IN, themselves. They HAD made the "trooth" their own. Since those were the only examples I've known of personally... that's all I had in my frame of reference. I was entirely wrong.

Yes, I understand that, now, luv. Again, I apologize.

I've heard that... and, sadly, have come to realize that many actually believed it. Some still do. They don't realize the disservice they're doing themselves, though. I mean, think: the WTBYS poo-poo's school. Yet, even Christ attended school. Why? Because he was an ignoramus? Nope. So that when the time came, he could stand up to those who opposed him... with their OWN "lessons."

Not all can see that, but that's okay, too. So long as one is happy where they are no one else should have a problem.

Dear Beks... again, I apologize. I have a time trying to understand WHY most JWs don't know their own stuff. Why even some who've come out and call themselves "christian" don't know even basic stuff. Why many come out... and want nothing to do with JAH and Christ, at all. NOW... MY eyes have been opened. Now... I... "see." MANY... aren't paying attention while IN, but just going through the motions! Dear one, I TRULY thought most folks were being SINCERE, not pretending. I truly had NO idea. Truly. My son was only 14 when he left, so I didn't expect him to retain much, yet he retained more than I imagined. My daughter, even more. But "I" studied with and taught them, so maybe that's why.

Unfortunately, I used my own experience... and those I knew of... to "see" others. That was an error... and I apologize for it.

I am in a conundrum, now, though... because I don't want to assume folks DON'T know stuff, either. Yet, how am I to know WHAT others know... so that I don't assume when sharing with them?

In the meantime, please... forgive me... for MY false assumption. I will try not to do so again.

Peace to you!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shellamar

Hello my sisters....

I would like to add that I personally really never knew or heard of CHRIST much in the WTBS although I knew a lot about Jehovah and I was an organizational women. I Believed everything they told me and I did not truly come to know CHRIST until it was time for him to call me out and TO Him.

But I thought as well that most grown JWs that were raised in it were truly sincere and not just going through the motions. I assumed most really lived it. I know of some that struggled but I did not associate with weaker ones LOL unless I was assigned to study with them LOL!

So, I am learning things as well.

Thanks for all the sharing, love your sister and fellow servant of our Lord Jaheshua MischaJah, Kim.

Shelby you haven't got to apologise. I find it amazing that those in the WT developed a relationship with Christ, because in my area Christ was a dirty word. It was all 'Jehovah' and the 'GB'... I borrowed a book from a friend about the blood of Christ and I was told that reading books like that was dangerous, that's how highly they thought of our Lord. Horrifying.

I always believed in a creator as the thought of nothing being there made me sad, and it was only coming out that I understood what it meant to 'kiss the son'... I wasn't the daughter of an elder or pioneer and I didn't pioneer myself, nor was my hubby an ms or pioneer, hell, he wasn't even allowed to hold the mikes or be on car park duty lol. Hubby and I were marked as being bad association, which was fine because we weren't missed when we skivved meetings. If I'm honest, I only went to keep what few friends I had, if they were on holiday or I didn't see them when I walked in I would go home faking illness.

Christ has spoken to me since a child and I never realised, I would have such a drive to leave and run away but fear had me hooked good and proper. If I had the strength and knowledge back then that I do now, I would have left as soon as I was old enough.

A lot of the jw's I knew would only know a handful of scriptures and they were all about serving the GB. If you mentioned Christ whilst answering it caused people to frown, the WT, especially this jw.org is the golden calf. The pin badges you can buy and stickers with it on is disgusting! My in-laws probably have these little pin badges and wear them with pride bleurgh! But wearing a cross belongs to the devil. I shake my head in disbelief.
