I'm going to try a new style of posting that is shorter. I'm going post this as if I'm talking to the Governing Body or the Writing Commitee to cut down on my usual wordiness. Okay, here goes.
The messiah must fulfill the 70th week for both the 1st and 2nd coming. If so, then we know precisely when the messiah has to arrive.
1ST COMING: The WTS has this one correct, basically. Christ arrives at the end of 69 weeks (483 years) to fulfill the 70th week. Since Christ appeared in 29 CE, the 70th week falls from 29-36 CE.
2ND COMING: For the second coming, we only calculate down 70-week periods to our time, thus:
4 x 490 = 1960; 1960 + 36 CE = 1996
So the 70th week of the 2nd coming is from 1989-1996. Simple and direct.
FUN HIGHLIGHTS:
1. Christ fulfills the first half of the 1st coming 70th week, but fulfills the 2nd half of the 70th week at the 2nd coming. So his arrival would be within a year of mid-week Passover of April 6, 1993. So Christ would arrive sometime between Passover of 1992 and Passover of 1993.
2. Christ's arrival at the 2nd coming in 1992 would require the fall of Jerusalem to occur per the "7 times" prophecy in 529 BCE. Double-dating in the VAT4956 to 511 BCE for year 37 of Nebuchadnezzar means year 19 falls in 529 BCE. The SK400 (Strm. Kambyses 400) astronomical text has double-dating pointing to 541 BCE. When applied to "year 7" of Nebuchadnezzar, year 19 falls in 529 BCE. So we have two, independent secular sources forcing us to correct the NB Period timeline which both correct the date for the fall of Jerusalem to 529 BCE.
3. Martin Anstey concluded in 1914 in his "Romance of Bible Chronology" that the Persians had revised their timeline by 82 years since the Bible clearly dated the 1st of Cyrus c. 455 BCE. Those 82 fake years of Persian history have been removed now: 30 each for Darius I and Artaxerxes II, 21 years from Xerxes who was Artaxerxes I (rules combined); and 1 year of co-rulership by Kambyses with his father Cyrus. voila! 82 fake years vanish into thin air. When 455 BCE dates the 1st of Cyrus, then the 70 years of exile begin in 525 BCE, year 23 of Nebuchadnezzar II, the last deportation. That means year 19, the year Jerusalem falls, occurs in 529 BCE. Get the picture? The corrected secular timeline and the Bible agree that 529 BCE is the true date for the fall of Jerusalem, so that means the 2nd coming occurs in 1992, consistent with the dating we get from the "70 weeks" prophecy.
Question is, did Christ really arrive in 1992-1993?
