May you all have peace! I don't usually get involved in these kinds of issues... because of my son. I know a lot of folks don't understand why young black men (and/or those who love them) are SO angry all the time... but here's another [potential] Oscar Grant/Trevon Martin situation that MIGHT lend a clue (to why folks are stay angry):

This one is actually even worse than Trevon, IMHO, because it may be almost impossible for anyone to know WHAT happened and so for anyone to be held accountable (if it WAS foul play)... unless someone actually comes forth. Someone, meaning from among the authorities, if not from among the students.

The case is fascinating... but very sad. Please, read the WHOLE article, and extra links, if you want to know why folks are angry. If not, no worries - just some information.

Shellamar, who knows what CAN happen... and how bad... when no one (who SHOULD be) is concerned about the truth... or even worried about the details...

Well, someone is lying or we have some kind of 3rd party grave digger/robber thing going on... on top of an already strange case due to the odd death... because the federals who did the autopsy said that all the organs were put back in the body... and the funeral home director said that the body came with no organs, that all the organs were destroyed by the way that he died. I mean... even his brain?

Tec - You beat me to it, I was going to mention that his organs were missing as well. But the thing that gets me, tonight on the news, I guess it was the ME that said he suffered a normal athletic injury and his body fell into the rolled up carpet, how does anyone still alive and writhing in pain "neatly" fall all the way into a neatly already rolled up carpet?

That doesn't make sense either, Shirley.

Not that things that don't make sense to us, don't happen, because they do. But in addition to the discrepancy between what two different authorities are saying regarding the state of his body before and once it arrived at the funeral home... that is a more tangible conflict.

One interesting piece of data: his fingernails were closely trimmed... post mortem. It is surmised that this was done so as to remove any possible skin/hair/blood/DNA evidence for a potential assailant.

This sounds very suspicious and strange. I also cannot understand how in this day and age why the race of a person has anything to do with cover ups and investigations. He is a person and if there is suspicion of murder it should be thoroughly looked into, glad to hear they are finally getting some attention. This is just tragic.

It happened in Georgia, dear Zoe (mornin' and peace to you, luv!). Along with Florida, Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, and parts of North/South Carolina and West Virginia/Virginia, most folks in this county who are AWARE... should not be surprised. Angry, perhaps, in this day and age (hence, my opening comments), but not surprised. Although, some of US are not surprised at what happens right here in California. Heck, right here in Oakland!

I took my son on a road trip when he was 12 and we went through the "deep south," including Georgia. My poor baby - he SO wanted to get back to California! I couldn't blame him - I did, too... 'cause a couple/few incidents made me SO scared for him! I literally kissed my driveway when we got back and I got out of the car - LOLOLOL!

Racism is only non-existent in this country... from a distance. It really is alive and well.
