Exactly, dear Sher'f (peace to you, dear friend!). Could be drunkenness, could be something more (even related to this). Could be both - you know the saying, "When you're drunk you speak your sober mind." Maybe when he was drunk he said/revealed something. Maybe to/about the DIL. Maybe to the DIL about someone/something else. We may never know.

Hence, best to let their internal scandals be their problem and just keep our gaze on the Son. Since it most likely isn't going to change anything for most of them, seems the safest way for us to go, IMHO.

But thanks for keeping us aware that they really are just men, fallible humans, just like the rest of us/all of mankind. Which WE all know - LOLOLOL!
