What more to say about this week's WT study?
But our friends commenting on the cultish paragraph, failed to catch the keywords:
"At that time".
Alas, it is not only at that time. It is every time that their instructions and explanations seem illogical and the suckers are commanded to listen, obey and be ****ed!

Can you share more, dear ANOMOS (peace, dear one!)? I did not read the study (havent opened/glanced at a WT in years - I actually shudder at the thought!) and so don't know what you're referring to. Might open some dialogue if we knew more. Perhaps what "time," etc.

Peace!

Your servant and a slave of Christ,

Shellamar.

JWN already features 2 threads with analysis of the complete article.

But they missed yet another point:
There was no miracle in the death of the 185000 Assyrians.
The water sources were closed.
It doesn't need to be a nuclear scientist to understand that the ones left were poisoned...

I'll have to miss it, then, sorry, luv (peace to you!). Was looking forward to maybe a little dialogue but perhaps it isnt meant to be. Another time/thread, maybe.

Peace!

Shellamar

Feel free to post. I am surprised OUTLAW doesn't have anything to add. He got it better than any of them. LOL. And there is yet another thread about it in JWN (by bats in the belfry)-about a previous explanation (Watchtower 1943). They have become a laughing stock.

The 8 dukes are now used,to refer to WBT$ JW Elders..
They are now compared to Dukes..
The WBT$ is gearing up to give JW Elders even more Unquestionable Authority..
Which Translates into more Unquestionable Authority for the WBT$..

I only caught a glimpse of the article... but it was based on a verse that I did not recognize and can't fully remember;

'... 7 something or somethings, even 8 dukes... '

They were implying, it seemed, that they were the 8 dukes spoken of in that scripture.

Maybe Anomos you could tell us the scripture they were using?

Peace,
tammy

Jehovah blesses the efforts of older men to train others. His blessing is also experienced by those who respond and reach out for privileges in the congregation. The Scriptures assure us that among God’s people “seven shepherds, yes, eight dukes”—the required number of capable men—will be raised up to take the lead in Jehovah’s organization. (Mic. 5:5) What a blessing it is that so many Christian men are being trained and are humbly reaching out for privileges of service to Jehovah’s praise!

Quote:
Such growth creates a need for qualified brothers to take the lead in teaching and shepherding in the congregations. (Eph. 4:11) Over the decades, Jehovah has raised up qualified men to care for the needs of his sheep, and we are confident that he will continue to do so. The prophecy recorded at Micah 5:5 assures us that during the last days, Jehovah’s people will have “seven shepherds” and “eight dukes,” representing a considerable number of capable men to take the lead among them.

It was a most ridiculous article, and full of omissions and suppositions, and a very strange interpretation of the main topic. A HUGE thing they neglected to acknowledge is that the seven shepherd and eight dukes thing comes from Micah 5:5, 6, which appears to be a Messianic prophecy. The verses before and after intermingle "he" and "they", the "he" being the one from Bethlehem Ephrathah, and the "they" being the shepherds/dukes (princes). This is a clear case of cherry picking verses to fit a doctrine, and yet another case of the whole dual-prophecy thing WTBTS loves to do.

Strangely, as someone pointed out over on JWN, the seven shepherds/eight dukes used to be the anointed and Christ himself (circa 1943), but now these have changed to congregation elders. I suspect it's because of the use of the word "shepherds", similar to how WTBTS gets the "appointed times of the nations" / "Gentile times" and relating that to the "seven times" of Daniel 4 only because of the word "times".

As the article pointed out, though, and this is really the whole point of it: expect strange, unreasonable instructions to come from the elders, and be ready to obey without question / hesitation. This was a fear-mongering / mind control article. The sad thing is, the JWs loved it.

How can shepherds and dukes be a prophetic type of the same thing (elders)?
A shepherd denotes a priest whereas a duke denotes a ruler.

Do you see their subtle reasoning:
We are appointed by Jehovah to rule all the World.

I am sure they are building on this article, and we will have further noolite in a future watchtower.

And BTW yet another new thread in JWN!

In spite of it being an old article, dear LQ (peace to you, dear one!), the fact that they make the claim is utterly ridiculous and so, of course they neglected to state where it comes from. At the risk of irritating, racking and/or grating on the nerves of, or outright ticking some folks off, I have to state... because it is TRUE... that there is absolutely NO way the WTBTS elders... or anyone else of our current day... can be such "dukes" (or leaders, whatever)... yet. NO way. Why? Because Micah 5 is a prophecy about the exact SAME events... and time period... that John writes about at... Revelation 19:11-21... and 20:7-10.

And the fulfillment of THOSE events don't occur... until AFTER the "1,000 years" have ended (Revelation 20:7). And THAT doesn't occur... until AFTER the Adversary has been abyssed FOR such "1,000 years" (Revelation 20:1-3. Which occurs just before the rule of Christ and his brothers BEGINS (Revelation 20:4-6)... which occurs JUST AFTER my Lord has returned... and gathered his chosen ones... to take him home with him so as to be married, LITERALLY... TO him... after which they rule WITH him (Matthew 24:30, 31; 25:31; Revelation 20:4). And THAT... doesn't occur until AFTER the "great tribulation" has ENDED (Matthew 24:29).

The "Assyrians" mentioned in Micah... are the same as "Gog and Magog" of the Revelation. For a time, "Egypt" and "Assyria" were the same and along with Israel, blessed by JAH... until Assyria turned on Egypt, oppressing Israel in the process. (Isaiah 19:23-25; 52:4-15). The 38th and 39th chapters of Ezekiel prophesy as to the "nations" that come against God's people while they are dwelling in security: "Meshech "and "Tubal" (aka Egypt/Assyria), "Persia," "Ethiopia" (Cush), "Put," "Gomer," "Togarmah"...

These, all of their "military force, horses and horsemen... with large shield and buckler, all wielding swords"... will come against the holy city, the NEW Jerusalem... or the people of God. They will be allowed to be misled by the Adversary (who uses three unclean inspired expressions, which I will explain another time) to come against His people, "Israel," who are dwelling in security. Because JAH allows them to be gathered, HE actually puts the hooks in their mouths to DRAG them to come against the "city"... and to HIS war. (Ezekiel 38:1-39:29; Revelation 20:7-9; 16:13, 14, 16

Since this event is yet for the FUTURE... because Christ has not YET returned and gathered his chosen ones, which he does by means of the first resurrection (for those who've died) and an instant changing (for those who have not died)... and that resurrection and change has not yet occurred... then the naming of such "dukes" CANNOT have occurred. And so, NO ONE fulfills those roles... yet. To even suggest it is ridiculous... and false.

Who here, though, is truly surprised? Heck, they've seated themselves in the seat of Moses... making themselves mediators between man and God... when there is only ONE who is worthy of that seat... and serves as such mediator: the SON of God, JAHESHUA, the Chosen One of JAH (MischaJah), who is the HOLY One of Israel and Holy Spirit. If they have no problem taking HIS seat, well, why not go on and take the seat of these (dukes)?

Such grand hubris.

Again, peace to you!

YSSFS of Christ,

Shellamar
