Well, I do think the same as you, Tammy. I certainly do think that such prophecies are relevant to us....but not the specifics, necessarily. The general principles, yes, but I just don't believe in the sort of detailed predictions that the WT go in for.
I understand. I do believe the specifics can refer to us... but I do not believe that we can come to this by our own interpretation, as the wts does... or we end up LIKE the wts, in false prophecy.
But I do think that there are specific things in the end-time prophecies that apply to the end times. Understood by and through the Spirit, however, and not by our own reasoning. If He reveals it to someone, then that one can know it.

I think I responded as I did earlier because I have an instinctive resistance to the way Israel is so often referred to and understood by the JW's, and the residue of that thinking that crops up from time to time. For instance, I hadn't personally encountered mention of "spiritual Israel" before dipping my toes into JW waters, so to speak, so I associate that concept with them and don't embrace those beliefs.
I can understand why you feel that way. The wts has taken some concepts and truths, and then twisted them so that they leave a bad taste in peoples' mouths. So that sometimes, maybe even just for a little while, some people reject things just because of how the wts twisted it... rather than just look at it on its own merit.
Spiritual Israel... as far as I understand... are those who are 'sons' through faith. Paul spoke of gentiles being grafted into the tree that was Israel. God is called the Most Holy One of Israel. Even in that verse that you quoted, reading a bit farther along, there is mention of gentiles coming IN.
The wts taints this simple truth, along with some others, and turns some people away from it.

But much of what you believe, Tammy, I do too.
Yes!
Quote:
We differ radically on God's nature, for to me God is Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and most of you reject that. I am unclear whether or not you believe Jesus is God, but I emphatically do. And you don't believe the Holy Spirit is a Person.
Not to start a debate or anything, lol... but just so that you can be clear:
I do not believe Jaheshua is God.
I do believe the Holy Spirit is a person... that person being Christ.
So there is God, the Most Holy One of Israel - Jahveh.
Then there is Christ, the Holy One of Israel - the Holy Spirit - Jaheshua (known mostly as Jesus, and also often as Yeshua)
Peace to you,
tammy
