I totally understand posting about their dirt, dear Zoe ( mornin ' and peace to you, dear lady! ). People who WANT to know NEED to know. And posting on the Internet is currently one of the best way to facilitate that.
Harassing people... including those who don't have a clue... or WANT to have a clue... is counter-productive. Does more harm than good because THOSE people (i.e., phone receptionists who don't know/aren't GIVEN any information but are to always respond "No comment" or similar to seemingly provocative questions - and remember, we're dealing with a LOT of people who barely have a high school education... IF that... and/or were RAISED by uber-JWs... and so although THINKING they art "smart" and "know"... well, pretty much "everything"... because they have a WTBTS "education"... don't really know HOW to FOR THEMSELVES. Or even WANT to. And so they turn the RESPONSIBILITY for thinking... for even trying to DISCERN whether what they "know"... are being TOLD... IS true or not... over to others. To those with "authority" because they've been TAUGHT... to DO that. And NOT to ever question "authority"... ( the WTBTS/"Society" BEING such authority)... and so to chide THEM is almost cruel.
Because in some ways they really are mentally handicapped. Like the lead character in the movie "Nell." She spoke as she was TAUGHT... from BIRTH... by someone with a severe speech impediment. SHE didn't KNOW her speech was wrong.... and never WOULD have, having been isolated from REAL society all her life... until Liam Neeson's character came along. Imagine, though, if he came and said, "What? You don't KNOW your speech is impeded, that folks don't REALLY talk like that?! What's WRONG with you?? You SHOULD know - all you gotta DO is read the paper!"
Thing is, she didn't have ACCESS to a paper, living where and HOW she had been RAISED to live! Had she even come across a paper she probably would have been told it was "evil." Because her mother, who raised her and had a severe speech impediment, such that she went off to hide from a world that viewed HER unkindly and unlovingly, TAUGHT her that the world was so.
SAME thing with MANY JWs: they are kept isolated, sometimes literally, but CERTAINLY mentally, from the "world." Even believing they are no PART of it. Sadly, they show themselves to be MORE a part of it than even some THEY disdain by their WORKS, particularly their treatment of others... including their so - called brothers.
But even if we were to say "Well, their ignorance is their OWN fault"... and to be sure, some of it is... "and so why SHOULD I feel sorry for them??"... the answer would be "Because feeling pity for the BLIND"... and if nothing else they ARE blind... "SHOULD be a NATURAL emotion." Not pity that patronizes or condescends, but pity that says "MAY I help you?" And if the answer is "Yes!", then "Here, take my arm and I'll.guide you." Not, "Okay, I'm gonna grab you and PULL you and make you go THIS way!"). And if the response is "No, thanks, I'm good," then one RESPECTS and gracefully ACCEPTS that declination.... and goes HIS/HER way. To do otherwise is the WTBTS "way"! And so how can one take IS SUE with them if one is doing the SAME thing???
At the very least, one doesn't chide folks for FORCING their beliefs on others... while doing the same. Regardless of the "intent." Because BOTH... BELIEVE... their intentions are "right."
If a certain JW... KEPT coming to ANY of our doorways, after we've made it known we're NOT interested... or if, for whatever reason we'd just like them to STOP... we wouldn't only think I'll of them.... think that perhaps what we've heard "about" Jehovah's Witnesses being "pushy" is TRUE, but probably put out a "No Solicitating" sign, if not take out a restraining order.
Posting what they DO... what they ARE... WHO they are... and who they are NOT... for anyone who WANTS to know, or even those who don't KNOW they want to know but might for some reason stumble upon, is one thing. A FABULOUS thing. Know something? By ALL means, put it out there! Information is a GOOD thing!
Literally harassing folks, however, is another. Again, it's counter-productive and just gives them MORE fodder [to give a talk/write a negative article about]. Which makes it all the MORE difficult for ALL of us.
Again, just sayin'.
